I'll start this for ya! Two of the most respected houndsmen in modern day times have my most attention. I think John Monkman and Dexter Reffett have done more good for the beagle breed as far as rabbit dogs go then any breeders out there. With that being said and not knowing what either are hiding, I would say something out of their kennels as a cross. Canadian X USA cross.

Wow thats strong, funny u should bring him up, everyone know about t-rex no one knows about shorty, i was told by a pretty reliable source he was pretty good hound finished when heli prop was campaining, terry mcbride said i was always happy to seem him picked up but on high scent days prop had his hands full and they split wins on several occasions.Wonder if he died at winklers house?

 I've seen some good ones out of Shorty. I was told by a couple of experienced beaglers/trialers years ago that he was the way to go if I wanted grit and all day hunt. I now finally have a female worthy of crossing over this line and plan on doing so as soon as she comes in. :D

Anything off Northfield Misty would be a good start (ie. Kingwoods Shorty)

she produced every time she was bred
2 FTCH off White Blizzard
2 FTCH off Otterbrook Chopper
1 IFC off Greenbriars Happyrun Slugger
1 FTCH Cold Creek Al
and many more with lisc. places and wins

Wayne Gross started something and we all have tried to tweak it to make it a little better.

Sampson crossed with a good bitch out of Jack of all trades.Would have been nice to see IMO.What about Junie crossed on a good Reggie bitch or Reggie on a good line bred Junie female. The 2 winningest dogs of their generation mixed together! Wonder if anyones tried it yet?

I have a male I crossed Chester with a double grand daughter of Turbo. It's pretty close to what you are talking about. He hunts really good and is about as powerful as anything I've ran with. I will probably trial him this spring. His name is Vest's Rook.

MY PEOSONAL CHOICE IF IT WERE AGAIN WOULD BE---- T-REX AND DANDY RUN NORTH STAR OF COURSE THAT'S NOT POSSABLE,,(((ON A SIDE NOTE I HAD SEVERAL DOG'S OUT OF SHORTY AND I LIKED T-REX BETTER,,ON PRODUCING))IF I WAS BREEDING TODAY.. I WOULD STAY WITH AS MUCH,, KINGS WOOD T-REX AS POSSABLE CROSSED WITH A GOOD FEMALE WITH TWO CROSSES ON AND TWO CROSSES'ES ON THE TOP,, OF NORTH WAY SPUR IN THE 3 RD GEN.NOTHING ELSE NORTHWAY JUST SPUR,WHICH I---MT ZION PETE TOP AND BOTTOM CHICO'S NORTHWAY VENTURE,DINGUS MACRAE,AND SEVERAL GREATS,,ONCE THIS, CROSS WAS MADE I WOULD BE LOOKING FOR A BLUE BANK'S SINGER MALE,TO CROSS ON MY FEMALE PUP'S--I GOT CARR  IED AWAY GUESS THAT IS ENOUGH,,,,
