Seems the hawks have cleaned out my rabbits...I run mainly behind my house because we own 114acres and I have a spot next to me of around 67 acres give or take and I use to be able to run dogs and have good races plenty of rabbits to train pups on because I kept yotes off and made brush piles havent gun hunted barely any ect. ect.---Well its all changed now I have to hunt and hunt just for 1 rabbit and soon as i jump it within 50-100yards its usally in a hole...Ive been deer hunting lately and sitting in one tree around 7 in the morning I counted 5 red tail hawks and if that isnt enough add in a few owls as well or 10 id say lol...its amazeing how fast they can clean out a place and even more amazeing Tennesse Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) lets it get this bad......any ideas?

oh yea...i put 7rabbits in my starting pen (1 wild and 6 pen raised swampers) and in 48hrs. i had 1 left and the next day his head was laying about 20yards from the fence

I have a friend that is a licensed falconer and I run my dogs with his red tail hawk 30 or 40 times a year.
We put the hawk on rabbits, squirrels and pheasants.
The redtail also catches lots of mice, snakes, frogs, praying mantisses and the occasional cat.
Red tails are good at catching rabbits, but goshawks are fantastic at it.
I went to a falconry meet in Columbus last Winter and watched a goshawk catch 3 rabbits in 8 minutes at 1 site and 1 rabbit in less tham a minute at another.
The last rabbit kicked the goshawk off. The hawk pushed off with it's wing and caught up with the rabbit and caught it.
I could see a pair of hawks decimating the population of young rabbits, in the areas they hunt close to their nest, when they are feeding young.

If one were to try to break the law they may put a leg hole trap on a long pole, but that's illegal and I'm sure no one would do that

no and i;m sure one would not get a owlor a hawk in a scope sight and fire either lol.. or would they>?

they need to be cut back anyways, theres way to many of them, along with yotes and fox.

The farmer that allows me to hunt his property, was telling me that the Hawks followed his Combine as he was taking off his beans, picking off the rabbits as he flushed them out.

hmmm...wonder if a man put a leg trap on a pole say 4x4 wide...how long would this poll have to be tall?-----and a man once happen to see them in a scope but the man also seen a house behind them and that man didnt wanna put a 30-06 bullet tru someones wall lol.....I seen something id never seen before as well...It was a blue color and the same size of a hawk eating on a rabbit and had claws same as a redtail...is this another breed of hawk? wasnt scared of me either...walked up to about 30yards from it sitting in a tree

When I was just a little child, I remember watching red tailed hawks catch mice and rabbits out of our pasture. I thought it was the coolest thing around. We used to have one that would watch us bush hog the fields and when a rodent or rabbit came running out, it would be in hot pursuit. But now that I am a rabbit hunter and run my dogs during the summer, I hate hawks...

i heard on the radio awhile back about a guy that was sick of the hawks getting his chickens, he ran a wire over his chicken coop and put some juice to it i dont know how much juice he had running through it but his neighbor turned him in and when the dnr showed up if i remember right they found 6 or 7 dead hawks laying on the ground under the wire.
