What are the rules for doing this? Do you have to be the owner of the stud dog and the bitch in order to do this?

i just chose the option that i own both sire and dam. i think you can do it if you only own dam but not sure. look at akc.org under the registration section.

standard fee. cost me $35...$25 flat rate + $2 per pup and i had 5. the info is entered right away and you know for sure if it worked. they print them up the next day and mail is what the site said. we'll see.

My wife raises Shi Tzu's and she has done online registration and it is much faster than the old way.

Samlyn did this with her last litter and she had her papers within the week. Worked like a dream. I am gonna do it with my next litter for sure.

I was VERY pleased with the process my first try. The pups are just being weaned and I already have the CERTIFICATE back on the one I am keeping! I used to sweat out getting the applications back in time to have them for the new owners when they picked up the pup. It may slow down when more people begin to register on-line but so far it is the trick if you own both sire and dam.

My husband and I co- own our dam. He owns the sire. I filled out the information, then they sent me a conformation email. I went to the site thru the email. Then they sent my husband a email that he could approve. Once that was done, I got an email saying papers would be processed the next day. Like oakhill said I did it on a Monday and got my papers in the mail on Friday.

ok... i called them today and was told they were in the mail on the 27th. i should get them today or latest tomorrow. if that happens, i'll be happy with an 8 or 9 day turnaround.

I think its a heck of an improvement, compared to wondering if the papers are going to come back in time.
