Greasy coat dog

I have a female with greasy feeling hair. I have tried a few different dog foods and that isnt working. Anyone know what to do for this?

i would worm her real good, most times when their hair is greasy, you will see them "sorta collect" dust down the back line. most times they have some worms that your usual wormer is not getting.

Thanks , I will consider that but Im wondering if it is something else , because I have 8 adult dogs and she is the only one like this.

I also have a female that has a greasy coat. She also has chewed the hair off her tail and hocks. I think that is a dermatitis with fleas. None now but still itching and I am trying to get her cleaned up. I have tried baths and dips but she still feels oily. Also have changed food with no luck yet. A good worming can't hurt. Good luck hope you do better than I have.

i know this sounds crazy but i have a pointer that had the same problem vet suggested oatmeal bath once a week. we did this for a month and it cleard up the dermatits. benadrl also will keep them from itching. the oatmeal also will help with the coat.

I dont have any problems with chewing or anything else. She is in perfecr health and will run rabbuts all day. No problem at all with her. she is a greasy haired dog. Her coat doesnt feel right and I would like to correct it if possible. I do appreciate all the input , and I will consider all posts.

I have a male the same way. Doesn't seem to effect his running, his hair is just greasy and dirty looking all the time. I have tried some things but nothing seems to work."???"

BPO-3 medicated shampoo
have a female that has hair just like yours really greasy,oily this is what the vet gave me and it works.

james how long ya had this dog is it something that just started could be the fat content in your feed too

They have a packet of oatmeal soup for itching at the drug store called aveeno and they do have it in the bar to kid had slap face disease form of the measles DR. at the hospital had to go get a medical book to look it up good luck hope this helps

Guys, thanks for the help. Going to try the oatmeal baths and the benedryl. Only problem is I live in Northern New York and the bath are going to depend on the weather.Hopefully it will help.

Watch the bendryl I know this was my kid but they gave her a benedryl shot and she went hay wire at 4 A.M in the morning we were back at the hospital
