I have not owned a beagle in several years and am once again thinking about getting back into running dogs. In the past I fed Kasco and was wondering how itt stands up to the dog foods that I see posted on this Forum.

Cheap dog food is cheap dog food! I dont think there is much difference in any of the cheap brands like Ol Roy, Purina, Kent, or Kasco. If you own just a couple dogs why dont you buy one of the better brands. It will only cost you a few dollars more for the year with just a beagle or two. I would recommend Diamond or Black Gold. Have heard very good results on both, Good Luck.

I have to agree with Don. Kasco is very good feed. I myself now feed Purina Pro Plan. It cost more but I feel my dogs look better, have less stool & more energy on it. Just my 2 cents. Thanks Jim Stinnett

Kasco is an excellent feed! it is not a cheap feed though / its in the $20.00 dollar range for 40lbs. Thier hi-energy is top shelf feed for a hard working hound. You can always tell a good feed when the waste from the dog is very small, dark in color and dry. I have fed both Kasco Hi-Energy and diamond. Kasco was better.

If you have a Sam's club near by try Exceed / either flavor lamb and rice or chicken. Same thing $20.00 per bag and easy clean-up.

Worst feeds I have ever tried. Joy either regular or supermeal (both bad) , blue seal natural 26, purina hi-pro, sporsman's pride darn they should give you a free snow shovel to clean up with & dogs look like crap when you run them hard.

Good Luck

Ive known guys on that Kasco trial program that give the food to the locals because they cant keep their dogs up. I think a great deal depends on how much you run. If dogs are run 20 hours a week this wont do a very good job of sustaining them. Obviously some will disagree, but Ive seen dogs on it and its not good. He was feeding double to maintain weight. Might work better in the south where temp are warmer? He was also quite supprised to get a tax form in the mail to pay taxes on the food he won. Needless to say he doesnt mess with it anymore.

We are paying less than $14.00 for Diamond Hi-Energy 50lb bag. I feel it is the best fed for my dogs. They are full of energy and have full shiny coats and less stool. I don't over feed my dogs either, right now they are getting fed twice a day at about 3/4 cup per feeding with warm water on it. Have been told by others that I don't feed enough. My dogs keep their weight and run at least 20 hours per week.
