Is this a Good Idea or Bad Idea?

I've got a young gyp that's in heat right now, that I plan to trial starting in September. Last night, I took her to a three acre rabbit pen, with wild rabbits. She jumped and ran for about 20 minutes before the rabbit went in a pipe. Would any of you do this to keep the dog in shape for the upcoming trials? My thinking is that I will take her to the pen and let her run one rabbit and then leave because I don't want her in there for long.

Small pen and a lot of rabbits. She can get used to running the path to find a track to run. I want her to hunt, and run it. In a small pen the ground can get really tracked up.

I would run her with other bitches the 1st 3 or 4 days then the last 4 days in the wild. I would run in the pen in between.

My experience is that those tough conditions only make for a better rabbit dog. Running in the wild is a piece of cake after running in a pen.
