Winter rabbit food and cover.

Post by BCBeagles »

What are some good things to plant for winter rabbit food? Something hardy and easy to maintain. My brother has just purchased a farm and
it has lots of good cover, but we want to put in some rabbit food plots. Thanks much!!

If you have many deer in the area they will be too much competition for the rabbits in a small food plot. In my starting pen, I plant clover of any variety, vetch and winter peas. When sweet potatos are harvested, I buy the cut's and culls which are cheap and supplement the rabbits. I am not sure if this would be practical in a large area. Planting clover in long crooked strips may work best for you. If the strips are crooked, hawks and owls will catch fewer bunnys.
