Where you live? 18 below this morning with a 30 mph wind. Dogs didn't want to come out of the kennels this morning. Water bowls frozen solid. I hollered to the dogs to come out but the words froze before they left my lips. It's going to be some noisy come spring when they thaw out!

I wish you guys would send some of that beach weather up this way! We get a lot of days in January and February that drop down to 20 or even 30 below, but it's usually calm when it's that cold. The wind makes it impossible to do anything more outside than the kennel chores. I'll be staying close to the woodstove for a couple of days. 20 years ago I was out bobcat hunting in this kind of weather but today the arthritis makes the joints ache when it's this cold. If the wind dies down by the weekend though, I hope to get a few young hounds out and see how much nose they've really got. Coldest day I ever shot a hare was 32 below. Coldest day we ever had here was 44 below, but I didn't run any dogs THAT day. Some winters it never gets worse than minus 10, but I think we're in for another tough one this year. A beagling friend moved to Northwest Territories in Canada a few years ago and he sent me a photo out his kitchen window. The dog houses were buried in snow and the thermometer was buried at a whopping 56 below zero. Talk about snow hounds!

It seems to be hovering anywhere from daytime highs of +8 to overnight lows of -10 here in central NY. The wind seems to have died down for the most part.... I can handle the cold OK, but the wind I can do without! Can't wait for the weekend, it will be cold Saturday, but I'll be out there running (or walking!) no matter what it does!

We've had some below zero temps but nothing cold yet. Trouble is we still don't have any snow aside from an inch or two of old hard stuff. It was like this last year and all the sewer systems froze up. I heard from a guy that was busy all winter digging up sewer lines that the frost went down 13 feet deep in some places. Looks like we are in for a repeat again this year. I have lived in MN all my life and I don't remember ever having winters without any snow like this.

Steve,
It's 28 and snowing here for our dose for the year. Last two weeks it's been in the high 50's with an occasional 70's. Like Joe and I said come on done and run in the "Sunny" south and thaw out. Hope to get back up that way in March to hunt or at least make the Hampton's trials. Did you get your email fixed yet? Take care.

It's been running about -6 to -16 every morning here in the U.P. of Michigan with day time highs of about +6 to +15. Have ran the last two days at about zero to +15 and the running has been great, we have had a little fresh snow about everyday, it is -12 right now (8:30 a.m.) As soon as the heat wave hits and gets up to zero I will be loading up and running the rest of the day.
