This past Saturday, while hunting a very heavy briar patch area, one of my females lost her Tritronics collar with the G2 receiver and bell.

It was the stock collar which came with a 2008 G2 system. Has this happened to anyone else

Do you have any suggestions to help prevent another loss

I put a plastic tie wrap on the end of mine to keep the strap from coming loose put it pretty tight but not to tight that you cant put strap through it

I guess I am wondering why the tie would be necessary? is the collar made poorly?

The good news is...if it is the EXP system you can buy another reciever and match it up with the unit your self.
With the older unit they had to be sent back to mate up.

I have lost collars plenty. I crawled deep into a log pile once to get one when I saw the light blinking. Two weeks ago I lost my transmitter and cannot find it anywhere. Dropped it in a 500 acre cut-over. That one is costing me $230 bucks. Tritronics is making a G-3 for me right now. It is supposed to ship this week. I currently have one collar missing, it is attached to a pretty nice young dog. I hope I get them both back. It is nice that you can field marry the g-2 collars to a transmitter, but it makes it a target for a thief as well.

So it is'nt an isolated incident, good information. I just ordered the new Trashbreaker G3 Exp and will use the tie. My buddy does this as well but I just figured it was an overkill but I see now that he knows what he is doing. He usually proves me wrong so I should have known.

I use a plastic tie and attach my shock collar to my tracking collar; that way, if the shock collar comes off the tracking collar will be with it & I can find it. I lost one shock collar years ago before I started doing this.

I use plastic wire ties also. I put an extra hole in the collar near the end and run it through the hole. I lost a collar A yr ago after the dogs went on a deer chase .

. Black electrical tape works also and it doesnt come off easily.

sure would be a bummer to lose a collar while running especially at $130 a pop, would'nt take long to have more in the dog than its worth, (especially my dogs) I figure If I lose one collar there goes the value of atleast two of my dogs. it would be cheaper for me to just keep replacing dogs lol.

We use a screw type D-ring to attach the shocker with another collar weather it be a tracker or to the loop in a regular collar. It works very well and haven't lost any collars since we started to do that.

I mounted my 3850s' on the same strap as my shockers but I have never had one come off.

I put reflective tape on my transmitter and I switched the collars with the ones with the reflective strip in them from Boatman's. For the collar, I use a 17" collar because of the extra 1" on each side of the collar. If you order them, have them shipped with the name tags off, then put them on after the shocker. If you lose one, then go out with a flashlight to find it.
