Randy invited me up to atlanta Mo a few weeks back wanting to hunt on some snow. Well the snow came and off we went up to atlanta Mo. It was a solid 3hr ride up to Macon County but well worth the trip and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Randy Scott and Royry are some of the nicest people I have met. I was glad to have the opportunity to hunt with these guys.

We started off on a small farm with an old house and barn with a small pond nearby. This location was just a practice warm up for the dogs because of the powder like snow on the ground. We didn't know how the scenting was going to be. They did alright not to bad. Dogs did their part but not a one of us was able to hit the broad side of a barn......lol Jumped up about 6 rabbits or so. Everyone of them holed up in the foundation of the old house.

It started getting warmer outside. Temps had to be nearing 30 degrees or so with the sun out so we moved location. Well what can I say things picked up from here on out. We hunted wood strips - very thick ditches - and an old railroad track with brush piles everywhere.

Randy - My dad and I want to thank you again for having us up. It was a blast and a hunt I won't forget.








Jumped over 30 rabbits and was able to take home 21 rabbits. +1 that my dad rolled but it still managed to crawl into a hole.

So after the hunt was over it was time to go home. But my truck decided to not want to start for me. It would start then die start then die. We probably did that for a good 20 times. Randy got out the tow strap and pulled me into town. Luckly Scott's brother was a mechanic. He told us to pull a plug near the throttle body and see if it'll start. Sure enough it did. BOY what a relief. I was about to camp out in macon county 3hrs from home. Heck if it wasn't for them guys I'd still be stranded in the middle of no where. I really appreciate all the help with getting my truck up and running. Truck is going into the shop I was afraid to drive it sat and sun. I'll be back to rabbit hunting this coming weekend

Nice, looks like it was a lot of fun.

it was a blast. I was happy to hunt with these guys. They hadn't been rabbit hunting in over 10years. They had a blast. I'm glad it was my pack they hunted over after all these years.

Joey, please dont take this the wrong way, but thats NOT hunting in snow....LOLOLOL.


Sorry, I just couldnt resist, that dusting is making me long for spring here...

lol........it is for us. I don't even want to see that much on the ground. Just give me a good 38degree day partly cloudy and some thickets and I'm good to go. I can't wait for all the snow to melt. It seems the rabbits hide in the holes and are not out and about with snow on the ground.

Morning was like powder on the ground. A little slow going but they ran them. Once it warmed up a bit then did a better job. The snow appeared to be on the slushy side.

We're supposed to get some warming this weekend which will give us slush and melting snow...I have always found those conditions to be a little tough to run in, but with the thermometer hitting close to 40, thats about as good as we can get this time of year. I'll try to post some pics as well...should be a tough time but at least its above freezing.
