I have heard lots of good of this hound just wondering why he never went to canada for IFC ? if he is that good he should of kicked butt.Take care.

Mr. Kane... In turn should we ask why are many of the hounds in Canada never brought to the states to compete? Would it make Sy any better to have finished in Canada as well. As it stands the dog finished in three different registries under three different formats. That's pretty darn impressive in my opinion.

Sy has nothing to prove, If he was sent to Canada Sy would win he is that good, 2 wins and 100 points no problem for this hound.But why He is ran in the states finished in the states and he is producing some fine hounds. Rick u have fine hound,but then again u already no this.

Hi there, I understand what formats he finished in but why didn't he finish in Large pack on hare he is from NY ????right.Just wondering the reasoning ,or if he was trialed in that format. Is he akc FC?Take care.

Its very simple to answer that question Boxer. First money play's a huge roll in trialing a hound. I estimate that I spent close to 12 thousand dollars to obtain the goals with Sy that I did. Most of the big name canadian dogs were beat by Syris hear in the states. I did not feel the need to spend another thousand or so bucks to run him in Canada, knowing that not too many of those fellas come to the states to breed. As far as Large pack trials, Sy placed in every one I ever entered him in, as well as being in the top 7 dogs at the Large pack trial of Champions in 2001, that being only his second time in a large pack. My favorite format is SPO on hare, or mid-west SPO. What I dont like about LP is that I dont know what my dog is doing, cause you are not allowed in the pen. I dont run my hounds that way while hunting, so it dosent bring to me the fun of other format's.

I do however like the guys in LP and always seem to have a good time when I go to them. Sy has finished 3 times as an AKC champ, was the first SPO only 15" male to win the Better beagling award (normaly won by LP hounds), is a UKC hunting beagle champion, a ARHA Little pack Champion, with wins in the Champion class, and was retired from trials at only 3 and 1/2 years of age, with 21 first places, and 27 second through fourths, in 6 different formats on cottontail and hare. But I will be more than happy to trial him in CAN, if you'll pay our way..lol. Hope that answered your question.

Yea Rick he is one impressive hound that is why i purchased one of his pups and he sure is turning out to be quite the hound his pa is. he is only 6 months old and handles good. i work with him 5 days a week and he will be at Kevin Groce training pen on saturday morning.he already holds the line very good and he has quiet the foot under him.he open up every once in awhile but i'm sure he will have the hang of it after i get him back from Kevin.hopefully he will give his pa a run for his money and exceed his achievments.lol

Took my Syris x Jazz pup I got from Chris out today in the field, first time out. I just got the hound back friday from the starting pen. He hunted with the older hounds didnt open on the first 2 rabbits, they were poor runs. babbit number 3# though he opened on track worked his own check, opened honestly and was first hound to find the rabbit after it was shot. Everyone I hunted with was happy with the pups performance.

I have 3 young males out of Syris that I am running right now. I could kill rabbits over them all day long as if I were running the old dogs. They have great control, brains, stamina, and excellent hunt. I have run them with the old man himself and they are even holding up to his standards.

Get in touch with Jamie Hilbert of Kentucky Beagles. He has Syris at his kennel and is coming across pups quite often out of Syris. He'll be able to help you.

It is a shame that Syrus will not be run in Canada. We here are always looking for a good hound to breed to. His championing in ARHA and UKC doesn't really mean a whole lot in Canada because most of us have never seen this format, or SPO for that matter. He sounds like a fine hound but undisputed heavy weight I don't know. I really think he would have a hard time finishing in LPH in Ontario. From his stud add descriptions, he doesn't sound like the type of hound that is winning in Ontario. But oh well if you are keeping him busy in Kentucky no need to show case him in Canada I guess.
