How much would you pay to hunt on Private Property

Reason I ask is because I found a outfitters group that has so many thousands of acres. I asked if I could do some rabbit hunting on it when bow season is over which is Jan 15th for the state of Missouri. So he wanted to know if I'd be staying in the cabin and for how many days. I just told the guy I'd be driving up from St. Louis it's only a 1hour and 45min drive to the place and that I'd hunt all morning long till I got tired which is normally about 1pm then head on home.
So he shot me a price for a one day hunt per person would be $80 What do you guys think. He said their are plenty of rabbits. But my definition of plenty of rabbits may be different than his. Plenty to me is 20 jumps that = alot of freakin rabbits.

Don't know if it helps any but I lease an apple orchard for $300 after deer season is out. I figure I get to hunt it 10 - 15 times so that averages to $20 - $30 per trip. I hated to do it but it's the best place in my county I have found to rabbit hunt.

I was thinking since I don't know what the land looks like or even if their are a ton of rabbits in there. How can a person pay $80 not knowing if it is good or not. You guys have any suggestions on how I can go about working out a deal with the guy. If it's good heck yeah I want to go back. Maybe for a total of 4 or 6 hunts. They have big property. I've never worked out this type of deal before.
For us two that would be $160 bucks. That's alot of dough. I could buy 8 55lbs bags of dog food with that.
what would a fair price be for 2 people for about 4-6 hunts. After deer season. So basically from Jan15-Feb15th end of rabbit season. I'd probably renew our agreement year after year if it's good hunting. Which Northern Mo is known for

I turkey hunt in MO. in Texas County, in the National Forest. I believe the National forest land is open to rabbit hunting and it will cost nothing to hunt there. There are thousands of acres in the NF not too far from St. Louis. It might be worth your time to drive over to Texas County near the Paddy Creek area and check it out. I have a friend that lives near there that rabbit hunts a lot. Get a map and look it over.
Down here in sw AR. I pay $325 a year to hunt a lease that is over 1000 acres.

This is the kind of deal I am looking for close to my home town. I would like to lease the land by the year so I could train/run dogs all spring, summer and fall and hunt during the season.

Maple you are correct, the wildlife mgt area is busy. I may contact Pete. I just had a pm from him this week. I like to kill a few rabbits to eat but I really like to hear them run all year long.

I'd offer him $50 for the both of you to go and hunt 1 time before i committed to anything. If he takes you up on it, try it and see, then you'll if it is worth it or not.
Maybe its just me, but i would not pay $80 a person per day if you could jump a rabbit every time you took a step.

As stated above I would try to work out a deal by the year excluding deer season. 300-500$ a year and have agreement that you may bring guests with ya. I don't know what ya have over there but you may look into finding some nearby farm land, mining land, etc.. do some research and just talk to people until ya find what your looking for. Talk to your local Game Warden he'll probably be able to give you some advice also, I bet he will know where the rabbits are and who owns the land.

Depends on how big and what you can hunt, just for rabbit hunting late season, I couldn't see anymore than $10 bucks a trip, figure late season is around 2 months, jan and feb, you go 4-6 times, I can't see even $100 bucks. Now for deer hunting or something, I can see more but to hunt an animal that probably 90% of deer hunters don't care about after deer season, I wouldn't pay nothing, just go somewhere else.

That sounds pretty steep to me joeyman.
i was in on a lease in Macon county $800 per year an we (3) could hunt what-ever , when-ever with who-ever we wanted.
it was all tember it was our deer lease.
but now i been into these dang hounds i dont really care about deer.
but if you want to try it. tell him to cut that in half on a try it first kind of deal like the others said.
sounds like he might be just a little greedy to me.
i might pay 20 per day per man if it was loaded with rabbits.

thanks for all the advice guys. I'm going to talk to him over the phone instead of e-mailing. See If I can get it for $80 for the both of us for the first time to check things out. And if it's a rabbit hunters dream I'll work out a deal for Jan 15th - Feb 15 and go back year after year If I can.
