Is the pup kenneled with the dog? I wouldn't worry about it. I have a pup that is about five months old that does the same. Once she is started and becomes comfortable with her surroundings in the field she will probably quit the puppy stuff.
Mine will bark until she catches up with the old dog then she quits.

Personally I don't run pups with seasoned hounds. It makes them do this stuff, which it may never stop doing. Seen it done alot, don't like it. Let a pup chase it's own rabbit or with pups of it's equal until it has the ability to help the pack out alot. Wonder why some hounds turn out great at 2 years old ? Not alot of dog chasing I bet. I'm sure some out there have to let pups run with the seasoned ones, but it don't help at all.

I don't have the time to run puppies and older dogs and both raise so much cain if I take one group out of the box and leave the others.

My two 7 mos old hunt for and rthe fenmale has jumped serveral rabbits.

The male will run when they jump and cme back after a while. He hunts and smells while close to me and when the other dogs come back around he'll go to them and join inand then come back.

The female has jumped and run full circle with the pack.

They will stay around me (50 yards out) smelling and hunting if the other dogs are away and hunting.

This is when the female has jumped her own rabbit and she and the male take off after it, Once the other dogs come to them the male will break off and come back.

Since the other dogs aren't doing anything bad or wrong I don't see being out and around them can hurt.

If the other dogs where barking a lot of trash, running deer, treeing squirrels, coons, opposm, cats, I would pull the young dogs out!

I do have ecollars on them, but have never had to use them on the young dogs. I've bumped the other ones once or twice and they stopped treeing. The little dogs never quit smelling and hunting rabbits.

I know the day will come I'll have to give them the juice for something (deer, hog, etc)

There are lots of methods and ways that fit different people and dogs. Try what you think will work and if it works once continue, if you don't get the right responce the first time, but don't get a bad responce, you might try it a couple of more. If you don't get what you want pretty quick try a different way.

Sometimes the dog will just respond like he knew that was the way to do it!

Keep an open mind to eveything you read from the ole pros, use all they tell you and combine some of thier methods and you will be just fine with your dogs.

These guys have done it all, one way or the other and can save you a lot of time and money.

I am a novice, but I read all these post and print out a lot and keep them in a note book under different tabs; Deer, puppy training, meds, Packing/running, cleaning, kennels, housing, Running Pens, Rabbits.

I look up a lot on this and other boards on the searchs to help me find answers!

If you have to take all the dogs out at one time, just try to get the pups on their own rabbits as much as possible. The old hounds will come and take the run away from them I'm sure, but the old ones should stay with the one they are chasing themselves if they are decent hounds. I'm sure you could find time to take the pups and leave the already trained hounds home, alot of us do it. It pays off quickly.

I like to run a pup with one dog. I have a pup starter here and thats where the pups run with. As they advance I move them up with a little faster dog. I try to tell everyone they need a good old dog to run pups with.

this can turn into a bigger problem than some think.once they start run with an older dog and let them be able to do alot of the work and old dog come along and clean up.Or run with pups there own abilty so all can learn together.If a pup is chasing your dogs and barking he is not learning anything but bad habits.J.m.o.
