How do you do it?

I feel so bad. I have not been able to get my dogs out in the field in almost 5 weeks, due to working two jobs, icy roads, holidays, and getting dark at 5:30pm. I had them loaded in the box last night then recieved call that mom was stranded so family comes first. How do you guys find time to run your dogs.

Going out right now... Cold as heck, but gotta get out. I work for a catering business, right now we are off for a few more weeks.

I juggle factory shift work with 2 young children 2&4 and house hold chores and maintenance and I get them out about everyother day, when Im on afternoon shift and weekends taking the kids with me when Im on day shift!

I know what you mean anderson. When you work 1st shift from 8:00 to 5:00 it only leaves the weekends during this time of year. Add to it that I have to work 1-2 weekends a month, and I'm at the mercy of mother nature to give me 4- 6 decent running days a month. We go out regardless of how merciful she is though. Ya just gotta go when you can go. Oh, and then you have to work your way through deer gun law here in Ohio, which, I'm happy to say, muzzleloader ends today. So I'll have 1/2 day to hunt tomorrow and all of New Years day. Then back to work Friday and then 2 more days of hunting. Thats 3 1/2 days of hunting within the same week! I'm thrilled to death!

You guys can run at night, I do all the time as I'm sure lots of other guys do too. Obviously you can't bring a gun but at least the dogs can get out. For me winter is the best time to go at night. Like you said it gets dark at 5:30 so you can head out, get a couple hours worth of running in and be home before 8:00. Just a suggestion.

I have got some crazy hours.... Selling cars means I am there when the customers are. Plain and simple.

That and the fact that it does get dark early... and some freaky wet weather we have been having I could not run hounds like we do without kennel partners. Between us somone seems to always be going out and coming back and we run the hounds of our partners just like they are our own for the most part. There is a few that owner only handles but young dogs for sure get to go when we go.

That and the collar lights get us out at night a little more than it used to .... just watch for skunks :blackeye:  :mad2:

Just like everything else I just make time to do it, there is always something else to be done when I go running but it will be there when I get back  If I didn't set time aside for running and hunting I would never get out, I consider it stress management and that makes it a medical requirement with out it I couldn't function properly
