A general forum for the discussion of hunting with beagles, guns, clothing and other equipment and just talking dawgs! (Tall tales on hunting allowed, but remember, first liar doesn't stand a chance)
woke up to steady rain but went anyway.it was a poor day for running but this was our first opertunity and we were not going to miss it.left my gun in the truck for the plan was for my grandson to take the first rabbit from these pups. the first race was a missed chance when he forgot the safety.later after the rain stopped the rabbit crossed to fast but came right back out on the dirt road and ran straight to my grandson for a easy 20 yd shot. what an excited young hunter you should have seen his face. we waited on the pups to show them the rabbit and the went nuts. what a day to remember.
I also took my son on his first hunt. He didn't get anything but his attitude was great....he said today he had one with his name all over it. He is also getting to hunt with a great hound in FC Smokes Creek Syris McGee....I think he also knows it's his first time as he will run the rabbit right to him everytime. If anyone has young ones, this will be the most exciting time of your hunting life!!!!!!!!!!! Jamie Hilbert Kentucky Beagles
