Anybody know anything about this area? Was thinking of maybe going down for the muzzleloader season. Is it good hunting? How about places to stay? Or any other public areas that would be good on the eastern side of Ohio. Might just drive down and use this year as a scouting year and not hunt, only about 5 hours from my house. Thanks for any info.!

Salt Fork does have public hunting. there is always some nice deer killed there. Gursey county is always one of the top deer counties in the state. Woodbury would be another place to check out in Coshocton county. It about an hour northwest of salt fork.

Never been there myself, but, if you havent already, go to ohiodnr.com click on "wildlife" and then on "find a place to hunt" It will list all the public places to hunt and have maps of each one.

Good luck if you go!

Salt Fork isn't bad for deer hunting but its way overhunted I had a buddy hunt there for the whole week of gun season there was 6 of them they only killed 1 deer all week, I personally think that woodbury public hunting area would be way better there is more deer and I think more places to hunt. jmho

ive hunted muzzleloader early and late and i always kill big deer as with the rest of my family but the easy access areas are always over hunted the best bet it to get way into the middle or back to hunt it you wont be disappointed never hunt gun season though to many people
