Not 100% sure but I think your suppose to hold the button on the collar and the button on the controller at the same time till they sync.

it's called "field marry"

here maybe this will help

do you have a 4-6 dog transmitter? if so when you turn it on hold the button down when you power it on..hold the both the power and the color button with your collar till it flashes twice...I think you have to have it on a shock level instead of tone also...it's something like that..it's been awhile since i did it...

This is out of the owner's manual.

Adding a Receiver. To add an additional receiver to your G2 EXP or Sport G3
system, follow these steps.
NOTE: Two additional colored straps were included with your original purchase.
Please read all steps before starting.
• Install strap of the desired color on the new receiver and charge new receiver
for two hours.
• Set transmitter dog selection switch to the color of the strap.
• Set transmitter intensity dial to a number, not a letter.
• Turn the receiver on.
• Press and hold receiver on/off button, then press and hold a “continuous”
transmitter button. Hold both buttons down for about 5 seconds – until you
hear two quick beeps (ignore the long beep that sounds right away). Release
both buttons.
• Receiver will now be set to match your transmitter, and will be turned off.
• Check for a successful match by turning receiver back on and pressing
a “continuous” transmitter button. The receiver light will turn on. If you are
not planning to use the unit now, turn the receiver off after testing.

I had no trouble doing that. I had a 3 dog set, not exp. type. I bought a 3 dog exp set and field married the old collars to the new transmitter, worked just fine. So I have a 6 dog set that works. But now my old transmitter will not work the old collars. Battery is good because I put it in the new transmitter and it did OK. It (the old trans) could be just gone bad and a coincidence but it makes me curious if anybody else has had this happen. I don't see how it could change the frequency on the old collars. Of course this happened just after the warranty on the old set ran out! :angryfire:

Larry, when you marry the collars to a new transmitter it changes the frequency that the collar operates on to match the new transmitter.

Good to know. i don't s'pose there is a way to change it back that I could do? All in all these have been some good collars. One has a weak tone or sometimes no tone and I have bumped a dog or 2 that didn't deserve it  but the others work just fine. My dogs are conditioned to know that when they do not obey, first they will hear the tone, then if they still don't respond they get a mild shock. It's amazing how fast they learn that. Just don't kid yourself that you have a trained dog just because it obeys with the collar on... take it off and if you can't tell the difference then you have a trained dog.

I called Tritronics and there is a way to change the old collars back to work with the old transmitter, they said. Just perform the field marry procedure with the old transmitter. I have not tried it yet but it's good to know.
