I tryed the new cleaning method that was shown on this form a week or so ago. Here it is, pretty slick huh?

Let me know if anyone else has tryed this, all I know is that it works awsome! You still get all the meat if you keep the front legs. You just don't get the ribs and belly meat. I love how this is done and will probably never clean another rabbit any different.

I tried it this weekend too elliot. It works. I was going to video it but I didn't. It was very easy to do and I really like it. Only bad thing is you can't see what the liver looks like. I'm going to dig thru the rabbit guts and look anyhow.

Awesome, awesome. I haven't tried it yet, but if it is as sweet as you guys say it is, I probably won't do it any other way.

Just got back from the U.P,runs were great and plenty of Hare.There were 6 of us and 14 dogs.We a fair amount of shooting(I didnt hit much.Anyway we tried the new cleaning method and it was great.If you never tried it you should,less time,and cleaner,cant wait to try it on cottontails.After running hare for 8 days I dont know if I want to hunt cottontails(just kidding)cant wait until next year.

I tried it a couple weeks ago, I seen the video just after season closed last spring so I was just waiting for season to start so I could try it. It worked pretty good but it would have worked better if the person who shot wouldn't have blown it apart so bad lol.

I took the girls out this morning and they run a couple to the gun. I saw the video yesterday and tried it. Really works good. The beagles like it to because they get the front legs.

How do the dogs do eating the thin bones of a rabbit?

They do just fine. My dogs have caught wounded rabbits and if you were not close that rabbit became dog food.

I cleaned over 70 rabbits this week with this method. Everything work pretty good. You have to keep the twist tight when you pull through the ribs, if not the guts will pop out on you! I also used rubber gloves, and just held the rabbit in my hand and removed my hand while keeping the rabbit inside the glove. This made it nice to keep in the jacket while hunting (Easy, light load to carry).

70 rabbits is a lot of killing. out of those 70 did you have any sort of problems at all?

If the rabbit is gut shot or the hair on the back that you use to tuck with is damaged don't try it! The hair tuck is the trick to it all. That is the wiper of it all and the tight twist is what separates the rib cage from the back straps. If it is loose you will have some ribs still attached.

I also had a few squirt some blood because the twist wasn't tight. I also found that you have to keep the rabbit held vertical like the video shows. I caught myself getting lazy and trying to pull horizontally and that only creates a mess.

I just got back from Iowa where you are allowed 10 a day, and there were 4 of us hunting. I brought home over 95 rabbits and 20 pheasants in 4 days hunting. Best hunt I have ever been on.

I'll have to keep your advise in mind when cleaning my next one's. Thanks for the advise and good to hear that you had such a good time hunting.

I have heard great things about Iowa hunts...too bad they dont have hare populations like that...LOL

Tried the new cleaning method today and it is pretty slick! Like was said, you have to keep it tight on the twist. Also doesn't work the best (like was said) on gut shot or one shot up the back. I remembered they said that, but was just amazed how much better this was and just keep cleaning the blown up one the same way. Always learn something new Can't wait till next week to hopefully clean some more Thanks!!!
