I have been asked many times what I think is better the old Line Of Branko Dogs or the New Line of Branko Dogs. I know this is a tough subject since many of the newer lines came from the older lines . What do you all think. Please keep it clean without bashing any of the Branko Lines.

The breeders or kennel owners have not changed so the quality of hounds they are putting out should not have changed either. I have a 3 year old bitch that $5,000.00 could not buy. :check:

I think there is a difference between the “old Branko” and “new Branko”, simply because stud dogs and brood bitches die and are replaced with new ones adding new chemistry to the mix. I also think over the time new outcrosses were added to meet the demands of different needs for trailers and hunters in different places. I personally think the older and even today’s line bred “Jack of All Trades” were smaller, better jump dogs, better on the line and better for cotton tail, while his other stuff that is out-crossed with, lets say; Terry McBride’s dogs are bigger, faster, more stamina and more competitive which is perfect for what they were bred for; to compete in Large Pack and Canadian Beagle on Fox competitions. Just take a look at {the bloodlines} that is successful in the Beagle on Fox Hall of Fame: http://www.geocities.com/cdnbeagleonfox/hof.html Is one better than the other? I think it just depends on what you like. Obviously both “versions” are successful and good dogs, just a little different.

Here is a few video clips of the Beagle on Fox Competitions, see the dogs in action yourself:

I talked with Frieda and am considering a pup out of Kasey. Problem is, I have too many now. May have to wait the following year after I reduce my kennel a tad. Problem is, I like them all right now and can't decide which ones stay and which will go and have another pup to pick up in Novmeber. Maybe after gun season I will know.

I have a male out him, that I really like, he is about a medium to upper medium speed, he gives some extra mouth sometimes, but is getting better, never had any trouble with off game, and like many has had plenty of opportunities, I would take another.

I REALLY LIKE IFC BRANKO'S HELI PROP....I THINK THAT HE IS THE BEST ""RABBIT DOG"" THAT BRANKO HAS EVER HAD, BUT AT TH SAME TIME HE DID NOT REPRODUCE IN THE WAY OF HIS FATHER BRANKO'S JACK OF ALL TRADES, SO I GUESS THAT I WOULD BE UNDER THE OLD LINE, BUT I THINK THAT BRANKO HAS 2 NEW MALES THAT WILL BE MAKING NOISE WITH THERE OFFSPRING IN THE NEXT 2 OR YEARS, THAT WOULD BE NEAR IFC BRANKO'S TRADE SIGN (FC BRANKO'S JACKPOT X BRANKO'S WATCH ME SIZZLE) THE OTHER STUD IS BRANKO'S TIM BIT (NLPC FTCH HARECHARMER RINGO X FTCH BRANKO'S JAMIE LEE) TIME WILL TELL IF THEY CAN REPRODUCE OR NOT BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD BYABOUT 10 POEPLE THAT THEY BOTH ARE 2 HECK OF A DOGS, I THINK THE REASON WHY THAT BRANKO IS SO HIGH ON BRANKO'S KASEY IS BECAUSE HE IS A GREAT HOUND BUT BECAUSE OF HIS FATHER IS BRANKO'S MAGNUM FORCE MAGNUM FORCE WAS IN BETTER BEAGLING AS TOP REPRDUCING SIRE, SO I THINK THEY HAVE GREAT HOPES ON HIS REPRODUCING ABILITIELS, BUT IM SURE THAT HE IS ONE GREAT HOUND, THAT CAN STAY HOOKED UP ALL DAY, WICH YOU HAVE TO MENTION LUMBERJACK WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT BRANKO , BUT IVE SEEN A FEW HOUNDS OUT OF LUMBERJACK THAT IS EITHER NOT AGGRESSIVE ENOUGH OR TO AGGRESSIVE WHAT I MEAN BY TO AGGRESSIVE IS THAT JUST A LITTLE TO ROUGH FOR MY LIKING, WILL GET A LITTLE ROUGH ON THE LINE, BUT HE HAS BEEN A REAL NICE REPRODUCER THOUGH, FOR WHT I HAVE SEEN HERE ARE THE BEST 2 CROSSES I HAVE SEEN OUT OF BRANKOS STUFF (JUST ALL AROUND GREAT DOGS) WOULD BE IFC BRANKO'S HELI PROP X A JACK OF ALL TRADES BITCH OR HELI PROP X ALI BABA BITCH, SO I GUESS THAT I WOULD HAVE TO BE CONSIDERED LEANIG MORE TOWARDS THE OLDER, BUT I KNOW WHERE 3 OMBRE MALES ARE THAT IF YOU COULD BUY THEM IT WOULD BE A WHOLE LOT AND THE DO EVERYTHING RIGHT, SO I THINK IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS YOU WILL SEE A FEW MORE OUT OF OMBRE START PLACING AND WILL ALSO SEE SOME OUT OF BRANKO'S KASEY START MAKING SOME NOISE, BUT OVERALL THE NEW ONES STUDS OR BROOD BITCHES DID COME FROM THE OLD STUFF SO I GUESS THAT THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO LOOK AT IT IS THE NEW ONES MAY HAVE LOST A FEW TRAITSBUT THEY MAY HAVE SOME NEWER OR BETTER TRAITS THAT HAVE CAME IN FROM SOME OUTCROSSING THAT BRANKO AND FRIEDA HAVE MADE, SO ONLT TIME WILL TELL IF THE STUD DOGS OF(BRANKO'S ONE TUFF OMBRE, BRANKO'S KASEY, BRANKO'S WARLOCK, BRANKO'S TIM BIT, BRANKO'S TRADE SIGN) TODAY FROM BRANKO WILL MEET THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT THE STUDS OF (IFC BRANKO'S HELI PROP, FTCH BRANKO'S JACK OF ALL TRADES, IFC BRANKO'S LUMBERJACK, IFC BRANKO'S ALI BABA) YESTERDAY, JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE IF THE SONS AND GRANDSONS CAN STACK UP TO THE SIRE'S, GRANDSIRES, AND GREAT GRANDSIRES.

To be honest, I have not seen any of them run but I have owned a few out of Branko's kennel (and plan to own a few more) and am very happy with the bitch (doubled up on Jack :approve: ) in my kennel out of 2 time National Field Trail Champion One Tuff Ombre (Large Pack) on the top and some Jack and Prop on the bottom. I have also seen some hounds out of Ombre and Hard Rock at a few field trials and in the field that were real nice clean running hounds that did it correctly.
But, like with any breeding, they are not all going to be world beaters. Some will be great, some average and a limited few will need culled.
My hunch is they are producing similar dogs as they have all along. I don't think kennels on Branko's experience level go backwards but are wise enough to keep the recipe and go forward. Even after the tragic fire where many were lost, they were able to take their remaining stock and obtain other hounds back out of their line and keep their line going and have produce many field champions and just plain good ole running/hunting hounds since. If they weren't doing something right their Kennel name wouldn't be plastered on every other post on this board. ;)
