I would think he will make it, as long he is eating some and drinking water he will get better.

What kind of snake? Maybe a copperhead?
Dad used to talk about when he was a kid occasionally one of their dogs would get bit and crawl under the porch for several days. They'd give the dog food and water and eventually it would crawl out from under the porch. For those days under the porch the dog would be swollen and sore. Pretty soon after crawling out from under the porch it would be back to normal.
If your dog has survived for 3 days then it's probably going to live and recover. Did you call a veterinarian about the bite?
Good luck!

Down here in the south dogs getting bit is a regular thin. I carry Benadryl pills with me if you give one to the dog the fist day and second day the swelling is normally gone on the third day. I keep a box in truck and on my ATV year around. I guarantee it works!!

Keep giving your dog Benadryl until the swelling goes down. I always give an antibiotic shot for a couple days in a row. You may also want to keep a close eye on the spot where it was bit. I had one bit by a rattlesnake this year. After a couple days, the place where it was bit started to make a hole. I gave antibiotic shots for a week and used Benedryl. It healed up good, but left a scar. You may also want to keep the collar loose or take it off until the swelling goes down. Hope this helps.

so 1 benadryl if the dog gets bit is the correct dose ? I'm just about to get my first pup into the field and I am worried about snakes. I should probably take a few if i get bit too ... I will keep some in the truck.
