Why I Should Win This Puppy
Hi. My name is Will Driskill. I live in Virginia and I am almost 8 years old. I loved rabbit hunting with my dog Dixie. When I was 6, I got Dixie for Christmas. She was a tri-color and loved to hunt in the woods behind my house. I killed my first rabbit with her last year. My Dad took her to have puppies with a dog in North Carolina in February. I helped my Dad make a whelping box for her puppies. She was going to have them in April, almost on my birthday. Me and my sister were excited. Last Wednesday night, we let her out while we were outside. She got on a rabbit and started hunting. We tried to call her back but she kept running. The next morning she wasn't home and I was worried. My mom and me looked for her all over but no Dixie. On Friday, I was helping Dad get the kennel ready and mom found Dixie in our cutover. She was dead and we were all crying. Dad said it was a bobcat or coyote. I want to shoot them when I can. I really want a puppy and I have everything she needs. My Mom still feels too sad to buy me one now but Dad said if I am lucky enough to win this contest, they will bring me to Kentucky for my birthday to pick her up. That would be a great birthday if I could win her. If I win, I will love her and take good care of her.

Dear Mr. and Ms. Salyers,
I heard that you are going to give away a puppy to the person that writes the best essay. I am eleven years old and i live in magnolia, kentucky. I think I would be the best boy for this puppy, because my chore is to feed my dad's dogs but i have never had a dog of my own. My dad seen your post and told me he thought I was old enough to have a dog of my own. I think from feeding my dad's dogs it has taught me to have responsibility for things other than my own. Our dogs have a great home. I let them out to run in our fenced in yard every day while I clean out the kennels and always keep fresh cedar in there boxes. We rabbit hunt a lot and my dad taught me how to clean and cook rabbits since I was 6 years old and this pup would help me learn more than I already know about rabbit hunting, and i would love to teach her how to rabbit hunt. our neighber has a big bunch of brier pathchs and we always run our dogs in it. I have a little brother and a little sister and they would love to see another beagle running around our back yard. my dad has three beagles of his own and if I get this pup I would be able to say that she was my dog. most of the time my dad works all week long so I would have a lot of time to train her all by myself and maybe me and my dad could get into field trials. I know that I can take care of puppy and I can promise you that she will have a wonderful home to stay at. so please give me a chance to raise this puppy.
sincerely,

Dear Joey,
My name is Trenton Coleman I am 6 years old and I live in Paintsville, Ky.
I would like to have this puppy because my daddy has beagles and he
shares them with me but I don't have one of my own. I've always
wanted a beagle that I could call my own. I run dogs with my daddy alot
but I don't get to run my own dog. I know that dogs are alot of responsibility
but I am ready. If I get the chance to I will take really good care of this puppy.
