Loose stool problems
I have a 2yr old bitch that has constant loose stool the vet has wormed her and her feed has not changed in a month( when I got her) Vet gave her an OK when he wormed her and though it was change in feed and she was quiet thin but has plumped up and seems very healthy. Im taking her back next week for her appointment. Has anyone ever seen this before????

Louis, what kind of feed are you feeding her/ Protein content? How much does she weigh? How long been feeding it? How much per day? Automatic feeder? What do you feed her in? What did she eat before? Does she get your scraps? Pot bellied? Is she nervous or shy? How often run and for how long? How's her water supply? How often changed? What type of water, city with fluoride? Chlorine? Sulpher? What type trees and thus leaves blow or fall in her pen or drinking water or feed? Was she used to well water (free stone) before? What type of kennel floor and what do you put down on it to keep down odors?

try this
try some k-o-pectate I have a sheep farm and I have tried it on them and it seemed to work pretty good. and it has also worked on my dogs. You can buy it over the counter at any local drug store I'm not sure how the spelling is cause my bottle is down at the barn. It comes in a white bottle and It's pronounced K-O-pectate.
Got Beagles?
If your dog is plumped up your feeding her too much. Too much food = loose stool. Also do you feed her at night or during the day? I used to feed my dogs at night before I would go to bed. Always had allot of stool to clean up and it was usually loose and sometimes messy. For the last month I've been feeding about Noon, and I've noticed a big difference in cleanup. There is less stool, it is firmer and much smaller. I use an empty puppy food can to measure their food. In the summer they get one can of dry food per day and they stay fit and trim.
Your dog may also have giardia. This is a parasite that comes from contaminated water. If your dog drank from a puddle a brook or a lake she may have giardia. It is tough to diagnose for sure, unless your vet has seen it before. I have had dogs with this and with treatment the dogs were fine. Good luck.
Hi Im feeding her Dad's bite size meal shes been on it for a month now thats when I got her she was eating Joy at her previous kennel. I use automatic feeders the first couple days she didnt eat and had loose stool then she made a hog of herself so I thought first stress from moving then to much food but shes calmed down on eating. She was well below her weight 15 inch beagle Im guessing about 15 pounds you could see all of her ribs from a distance and more loose skin than a bloodhound. The vet vet said she could put a couple of pounds on and it wouldnt hurt her but shes not underweight now. All my dogs get fresh water twice a day and are in a gravel bottom kennel. I didnt notice any diarrehea when I picked her up but there was about 6 - 8 inches of crap under the kennels and no water to be seen. She wasnt what I wanted but the price was right and a different deal I had fell through and I couldnt leave her there, soooo.
Shes in a fresh pen never lived in before and not next to my other dogs so I hope they dont catch anything but she doesnt act sick in any way though she is a little skitish when you first go in her pen.
THANKS for all the input and I hope I answered everyones questions.
