2008 Wisconsin snowshoe hare hunt - PICS!!!

We trekked 1,200 miles to Northern WI last month to brave the cold and 2+' of snow in some places and loved every second of it! This year was a hard winter up North and there was a lot of snow on the ground when we got there. The 1st day the dogs had a real hard time running in it b/c it was so deep, they were in over their heads, pun intended
Over the course of 3 days the dogs jumped and ran some really nice hare. The first one we shot the dogs ran him for 2 hrs. and 10 min. before we layed the hammer down. They would stroke him, then have to gear down when he'd go under the conifers where it was real cold and the top layer of snow was ice and didn't hold the scent well.
Only 2 hare did they really line out on and stroke and both were the 2nd & 3rd days we were there. Temps had gotten just above freezing and then dropped real low.
1st pic is one I snapped just as the dogs got a line on a hare, they were off!

Ahhh, snowshoes, MUCH easier!!!

Here's one of the big bad wolf. We ran into some wolf tracks as you can see by the picture, they're HUGE and we prayed that we wouldn’t run into the wolves themselves.

And last but not least, here's one of my favorites. This is a pic of my 14 month old Branko x Hanks JoJo Blue/Spicers Blue Back gyp Simba jumping up on me saying “Hey - where’s the cream filling?!”
