Counting my blessings and praying for those less fortunate
Well today is the first time I have been able to be back online since Tuesday. I live in Macon County Tn and as you may or may not know we were hit by a tornado Tuesday night. Once it touched down in Trousdale County it proceded northeast completely through the entire run on Macon County and finally lifted in Monroe County Ky. It was on the ground for a total of 51 miles and was ripping up mother earth up to 3/4 of a mile wide. 13 fatalities with more than 70 injured and tons of people now homeless. Power went off just shortly after it entered Hartsville and the last thing I heard on the tv was it was weakening. Hale started hitting the windows shortly after and the winds picked up tremendously. By the time I made my way to the bedroom to get the wife and boy up to get to the closet it was over. I basically thought nothing else of it and let them sleep. All this lasted what seemed less than 20 seconds. After sitting up all night waiting for the second wave to hit my wifes cell phone rings around 430 am. We were informed there had been a tornado pass right up the road from us and houses were completely gone and we were being checked on to see if we were ok. My wife is repeating all this as her friend is saying it and before I hear everything I am out the door and up the road. 1/4 a mile as a crow flies from the house there were homes that had completely vanished. I know is that when the power went off I got down and prayed that if it had to come though my front door all I asked was that God take me if he must but please watch out for and spare my wife and child. If you look down the path it was running you can plainly see the silo that sits just across the road from my house but a mere 1/4 mile from us it turned. YES there is absolutely a God. Seeing the devastation on tv is one thing but to see it right before you is something totally unbelievable. Fortunately all our family members are ok but I would like to take the opportunity to ask each of you to pray for those who were less fortunate than I. Tell those close to you that you love them and take nothing for granted cause it can be gone lightyears faster than you got it. Thanks for reading and keep our community in your thoughts and prayers.
