Here it is 12 midnight and instead of sleeping I'm here sipping some Crown Royal and reading about rabbit hunting instead of going. three beaglers cancelled on me for tomorrow and 3 friends are busy and can't go. wives have them tied up i quess. get your priorities in order....beagle running first......then honey do's

my wife has tried telling me i cant go hunting on many occasions so i would call my buddies up say lets go hunting 5 min later i was walking out the door trust me she wasnt happy after about 3 hours she gives me a call every time saying she was sorry now when i ask if she cares if i go hunting she tells me why does it matter if i say no your going anyways lol

Trick is get all those honey do's done during the week!When all my hunting buddys are busy I hunt alone just take fewer hounds I have had many great hunts out solo.

Just got back from solo run. Had a great 2 hours. started out slow but then my 7 1/2 yr old had 2 complete races. One ran a pretty tight circle and crossed me at 15 yards. The other one was a 45 minute run out of sound and back. long race for a cottontail. came back to me at 30 yards . I let them both go for another race another day.

Getting harder and harder for this short, fat old man to walk that heavy snow.

tomorrows a 10 degree day. anyone gonna hunt? I try to stay home if its not 19-20 degrees. good luck

Wasnt worth trying to go out today we got 14 inches on wed and another 2 last night took a drive back to the woods with my quad and the rabbits look like they havent moved since the snow. We are going to need a big thaw soon. Cant wait for march to get here and for the rabbits to start breading.

I went out this morning, took my little female and two of her pups. They ran 3 rabbits, one for about 20 minutes, almost got a shot, just always in the right place at the wrong time. I was using a 22 pistol, Ruger single six, I have to wait for the easy shots. I'll be going tomorrow as well, taking Ruby out with some more pups, she is the only one I have that has the age and experience to keep a sustained run going, It's supposed to be 2 degrees here at noon tomorrow. We'll see. Brian.

Sunday was a no way day for me 3-5 with 30 mph winds!!!! snowing and blowing so hard you couldn't see would have been crazy.

i went out sunday in the freezing cold as you all know i just couldent stand looking at the dogs stearing out the window wimpering any longer,so i suited up and took the three older dogs out. Man it was cold but it couldent of been two mins and my elmer dog opened. It was a hot jump. to my surprize the dogs were running on top of the snow. They were pounding it was some of the best running i had in the last two weeksand i dident think it would be worth a crap. they ran that rabbit for a hour an ten min. i could not stand to be out any longer so i called them in,but just thought i would tell you guys how i did

I`ll be out every morning for the rest of the week.unless a major storm rolls in again. sure is good excercise.

for us old, short fat guys that excercise is a killer. ....lol...... 4 inches expected tonight. hope to get out wed.

Stockbridge, Michigan Tuesday Feb. 12

It is snowing the proverbial "cats and dogs". We have had 4 inches in the last 3 hours, temp is about 13 degrees but since I believe in trying all conditions, I went anyway. I turned loose in a big cattail marsh with briar thickets along the outside. Amazingly, my Double Ought Whiskey pups jumped a rabbit and the race was on. They circled him 4 times and after about 45 minutes, slammed him back into a hole. I got home about 6 PM and it is snowing as hard as ever. I have found that, some of the most unexpected conditions, can provide very enjoyable events.

we have got about 3 inches so far tonight and still coming down that makes about 20 inches in the last week.
