I'm getting ready to build a small training lot for pups 3/4-1acre .
1.Where is the best place to buy the wire ?
2.What type wire , gauge ect ... should I buy ?
3.WHERE is the best price ?
I found the 60" , pvc coated , 20 Gauge wire for $128.00 a roll . Has anyone used this

that pvc coated wire is the best last alot longer to also dont forget to bend it under about a foot on the bottom and you can get it cheaper if you can have it delivered to a buisness

I bought the crap from Bryne fence. It was uncoated galvanized with a 10 year warrenty. Now a little over 3 years later it is rotten. The extra roll I bought from the local hardware store is still perfect. I wouldn't buy anything from Byrne at any price.

Don't buy the stuff from Bryne.

I bought the coated mid grade stuff from them and it hasn't been up three years. I'm already patching holes in it.

Not having any trouble with the galvanizes apron fence I bought at TSC.

Personally, I like the 17 ga., wouldn't go lighter than that.
I bought some lighter coated wire on a damage sale I'm gona use to fence in a growed up garden spot to raise some baby rabbits on the ground, but I'd rather have heavier to hold beagles...
I don't know what wires gone up to now, but if you get with a beagle club that's ordering wire, you can save some money by volume. One things for sure, nothing is getting cheaper!!!
I got some steel T post and I'm coating them with blackjack up about 3' to keep them from rusting. The worse rusting occurs right at ground level where the dirt/air/moisture meet.
If you get the galvanized wire, we took blackjack and thinned it with diesel fuel to make it like paint and then rolled the wire in it. It makes a mess to handle but after it dries it will last twice as long.
Good luck with your pen...

the 17 ga wire that you are talking about is it 1.5 inches or 1 inch. iam working on bulding a 3 acre pen and the only 17 ga i can find is 1.5 inch instead of 1 inch . what do you think about useing the 1.5 instead of the 1 inch. Lowes can order it s 5 ft high apron fence 150 ft roll for $115. a roll. thanks for any input.

Young rabbits will go in & out through the wire. I had a little one go through the 1", it was on the outside and ran through when i stopped the mower to try an catch it. 1 1/2" will just allow bigger ones to get through, seems if they can get their head through, the rest will follow...

Patch mentioned the heavier 17 ga. wire. But I have not been able to find a dealer that sells 17 ga. in
a coated wire.I've been laying out what I want here on the farm so I'll be ready when some property I own in NC sells :-) Anybody know of one ?

I bought 6 rolls of the 17 ga. coated, off a fellow in Ky a couple years ago for $100. a roll(glad I did now), they had ordered to many rolls for their inclosure and I figured it wouldn't go bad sitting in the barn until I needed it.
How's the Redbrand from Co-op holding up? anyone using it?
