Twas the night before....

Post by Hunter »

Twas the night before New Years and all through Dugger the creatures were stirring even the mice.

The shotguns were hung in the truck with care,
In hopes that some bunnies soon would be there;

Earlier that day we had made the trip with the hounds all snuggled in the hay while visons of bunnies danced in there heads.
Brian in his Elmer fudd hat and I in my Camo Cap,
A few hours later we had arrived and unloaded,
when out in the field there arose such a clatter we sprang to our
feet to see what was the matter,
Away to the guns we flew like a flash,

Tore open the breaches and threw in the shells.

The sun on the breast of the new-fallen frost

Gave the lustre of mid-day to tracks below,

When, what to our wondering ears should appear,

But a pack 6 of hounds, and giving mouth all the way,

With them all driveing, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be a hot trail.

Now Max, Now Hannah now Missy and Dusty,
On Dash and On Abbey, go get those bunnies.

After a few hours later we sprang to the truck, to our team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

And we exclaimed , ere we drove out of sight,

"Happy Hunting to all, and to all a good-night."

Thanks for reading and good luck with all your hunts.
3 Bunnies apiece and Max retrieved one of Brians that was able to hobble out of sight. It dont get any better than this hunt.
