You might want to check with Chip Eisenhut.

Pine MT, I bought some from Bryne fence and I'm not happy with it. I have pups chewing thru it and getting out. I've had much better success with the galvanized apron fence from Tractor Supply. It is 112.99 a roll. For a 150' roll, No holes in it yet and it has been up the same amount of time as the vinyl coated stuff :D

I use the Red Brand galvanized apron fence. I get it from Tn Farmers Co-Op. If you talk with them you can probably get a good price on it in volume. As you know, it's heaver guage. I have an electric fence on top of my pen. It's just my opinion, I think a coyote etc. might get a better charge without the vinyl coating.

Above answers are all correct although the coated wire will not rot and will stay looking just like new for years. Mine is 5 years old and looks no different than when new. My galvanized has already rotted out and has been replaced. I just dont leave pups in my pen to become bored. If they aren't hunting or running they go back to the kennel.

That's the first I've read of a complaint on fencing from Byrne fence. I've been watching these fencing posts for quite some time as I intend to get around to getting 10 acres fenced in one of these days. Was this fence vinyl coated and what gauge was it as what I have seen from Byrne fence has a rust through guarantee but I doubt pups chewing it would be guaranteed.

the vinyl coated does last longer in wet areas.the vinyl is 20 gauge coated with 1 inch holes 5FTX 150 Hog Slat will have it for $99 can get 2 foot for bottom at wet areas for $40 150ft.THE BEST IS STRAIGHT 17 GAUGE 1.5 INCH 150 FT ROLLS A FOX DOG COYOTE WILL NOT CHEW THROUGH THAT LIKE THE VINYL.I HAVE VINYL IT'S RARE BUT CAN HAPPEN.ALSO THE 1.5 INCH BABY RABS CAN GO THROUGH WHICH ALSO POPULATES THE OUTSIDE THAT FALL STICK BOXES OUT RETRAP THEM.I HAVE NOT HAD ANY CHEW THROUGHS OR OUTS ON MY 17 GAUGE PEN.DEPENDS ON YOUR RELATIVE AREA WHAT WILL WORK BEST FOR YOU.

I got galvanized from Bryne fence and it is CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It started to rust within 2 weeks, that's 2 weeks. Within 2 months it was totally brown from rust. Within 2 years it is rotting through. I needed 1 additional roll so I bought it from my local Ace hardware. It was less than $10 more then the Byrne wire, it still doesn't have aby rust. I've got cage chicken wire that has been outside for 10 years without any rust.

:angryfire: THE BRYNE's FENCE WIRE IS JUNK!!!!!!!! :angryfire:

Some time back someone was talking about purchasing wire from the manufacture somewhere in the NE.

I purchased 40 rolls from Byrne fence company and it is some good stuff. I would recommend nothing less than the 18 guage heavy duty coated.I have deer run into this stuff and they bounce right off. After 4 years it still looks brand new.As far as your electric fence at the top just run another wire 6-8'' under the hot wire and use this wire as a ground.I have seen cats and racoons climbing the polls and touch the ground wire and the hot wire and  .The only animal to get into my pen has been a bobcat and he did that by climbing a tree on the outside and jumping in.Fixed that old cat with more than just some electricity!

I have 35 acres fenced with vinyl coated fence from Byrne. This is the 4th winter for it and it is still in great shape. Have had deer bounce off it with no problems. I don't have hot wire the fence is 7 foot high. 5ft botton with 1ft apron with 3ft top fence.
