Swamp Hunting In South Mississippi

After 9 days off, my hounds were ready to hit the woods. We did not hunt but about 3 hours, but we had lots of action. I was able to shoot my limit (1) and enjoy a new and unexplored area of the Jackson County Swamp. The Area Manager had used a dozer to build a new 40 foot wide road about a half mile or more into a section of the swamp that has not been penetrated in years. The A-Team and I enjoyed this “Land Before Time”.

Here are some of the many shots of the swamp that I took today.

I bet that is a skeeter factory.

I am sure it is, but not today. Temp was in the 60s and I did not see a single skeeter.. More problems with ticks and banana-spiders. I have fished the horse-shoe-lakes in this area in the Spring/Summer...had to put the spray on before you got out of the truck and always keep the truck windows up.
