hunting pine thicket

hey have a quick question we went to the place we ran our dogs all summer great rabbitt place since the change of season the dogs seem to be having trouble running the rabbitts places they did all summer seems they loose tracks in the area where pine needles are all over the ground a coupled holed up but a few we just cant figure out does the needles change the amount of scent ??????? just wandering we got two bunnys with tom and hank

The places we ran in the summer were pines and they were full of rabbits. In the colder months it seems the rabbit move down into the bottoms and dont come into the pines very often. It gets hit or miss in the pines during winter.

When vegitation is killed by first frost, scenting is poor. I think its the worst conditions of the year. We're experiencing it now in central Carolina. Usually a good rain is needed to restore decent conditions.
