Once the freezer is full of meat, it's time to hunt for the trophy. I only have 2 real trophies on the wall, but the family has been fed well for years.

I just deer hunt to get meat. Now if a huge buck just so happens to walk by then he is going down if I don't miss lol.
I've been deer hunting for 4 years and have not killed one yet so no trophy kills are even on my mind. Any deer is good.

I hunt for meat only. Can't seem to get them horns soft enough to chew on. I have killed several trophy bucks, but they were in the right place at the right time. We are eat up with deer around here to the point that we get permits to harvest two does a day per hunter all the way through deer season. Between about 4 hunters, we get somewhere around 25 to 30 deer a year. Man, I just love a tenderloin bisket in the mornings. Best of luck to all of you.

I will kill a doe to keep the doe population down or to give the meat away, but i only shoot bucks that are wall hangers. I will be leaving for saskatchewan Canada on the 17th. I have been going there for 4 years hopefully this year I will get that 170 or better buck. I have 4 on the wall right now. Two eight pointers from Georgia, and 2 Ten Pointers that I killed in Saskatchewan. I will be hitting the stand in the morning to see if I can get a nice Ohio buck or a small doe to make some summer sausage out of.

I'm leaving tomorrow morning 3:30 a.m. I'm going to head in 20 minutes before light so I can get settled in. Hopefully the squirrels won't be out jumping around cause everytime I hear leaves russling I think it's a deer. Drives me crazy.

Danny,
Hmmm ya know I do have a badge I forgot about that
lol nah just wondering how everyone hunts..everyone does it for different reasons and that is fine. Just curious of the percentage. I usually get a doe with my bow for meat. If I am hunting meat I would rather just get a doe. I let those small bucks walk but that is just me. I don't kill alot of game. I like a mess of rabbits..squirrel..turkey every now and then. But I take only what I need and let the other go for others that need it worse than me or a young hunter looking for his first kill. That is where its at! I get more enjoyment watching and helping with a kids first kill than anything!

I have killed so many does it has lost its luster . I still harvest a doe or 2 a year with my bow but once I fill those doe tags I hunt the horns . I never kill anything that is smaller than what I already have on the wall .. And I have several pics on my trail cam of 2 nice 8 pointers in the high 130 class and seen a 150 plus chasing a doe around yesterday .. . I have the fever bad...Good luck to joeyman I hope this is your lucky year .

Deer are like rats here in Central and South Eastern Ohio. I hope we have a record harvest. Way too many.

Do you all do hunt leases for deer hunting? It is getting real bad around here. Lost two prime rabbit hunting spots to deer hunters from the big city this year.

why can't you share with them. You can lease after deer season.
