This past Saturday was opening day of rabbit season here in Louisiana.
My oldest boy got his first rabbit, a nice swamper. Talk about excited.

It is always good to see young people getting involved in the outdoors! I can still see the first rabbit I ever shot coming at me as the dogs were right behind it. I will never forget that first one. Thanks for taking me down memory trail....

Congrats on that BIG Swamper! Your boy looks like a rabbit hunter! ;)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. That picture sure is.
Good for the young fellow and that smile is as big as the rabbit.
Glad to see you fathers take your boys hunting.

Thanks guys. He was definitely excited. Wes is 9 and my middle son Logan is 7. They've been running dogs with me since they could walk. Future rabbit hunters for sure. I need to get John, my youngest one, started next. He's handicapped, and my wife is way protective over that one. She still thinks he's too young to go to the woods, but his time is coming. I've rabbit hunted and field trialed all over the South, but right now I'm having more fun just running with my boys and staying close to home.
