You using your own hound?

If yes , you could rent a lodge at Shin Pond Village. The hare hunting in Patten, ME is excellent. You will have a hard time matching it anywhere else in Maine, I still haven't even seen a posted sign in the area. Hare population is way up, the cover is thick so bring extra shells. It is incredibly easy to do a self guided hunt in Northern Maine because land to hunt on is easy to come by. The website for Shin Pond Village is "www.shinpond.com" I have stayed there and the owner is very pleasant and really aims to please, prices are very good and you won't find better hare hunting territory than within 2 miles of there camps.

If no, there is a guide with excellent dogs that owns Four Points Maine Guide Service. He field trials beagles as well as guides hare hunts when they are in season. His website is "www.fourpointsme.com" I don't know exactly where he is guiding right now but I do know he is a good guy with really good beagles .

We cross over the bridge and head West on HY.2 .

Anything after that.... there will be a blindfold on Mike Crabtree.

There is alot of public land to hunt and run dogs.

Just knowing where to go is the big thing.

Hi Rabbit Fever

We will be about 30 miles from the bridge that seperate Upper and Lower Michigan.

Thanks for the warning about the deer ticks. I'll take some 7 dust.

I was hoping some cooler temps would hit next week.

I'm headed for my cottage on Drummond Island the end of October, I hope the ticks have calmed down by then.
