i think it was last week sometime. a few people were complaining about the site being down so much and having problems logging on. the owner of the site replied that he was tired of it to and thanked the guys for making up his mind and said he was going to shut it down. looks like he did.

It list Chris Miller as the owner in the whois of the domain name.

Does anyone know how to contact Chris Miller as I have tried calling one of his #'s but message box is full and he hasn't returned any emails?

Need to get ahold of him ASAP on a pressing matter.

I tried to host a server for an internet Co. ONCE never again

So I can See what Chris is going thru And mine was in the day when they wernt So Savy as they are now...
Chris does this with vewry little monetary Gain if Any from advertizers

I had wonder if his server became compromised as I was emailed an alert that his server was trying to hack into my server.

I have been trying to reach him to discuss this matter.

From the link you posted it looks as though it was:
The cyber attacks on beagleboard are unbelievable. The problem with beagleboard is that it is very functional - meaning it offers a lot of different things that typical message boards don't (like uploading photos, chat, etc.) With that functionality comes opportunities for hackers to play games. This latest one had some *** upload a virus .pl file masked as a .jpg, via the photo upload. The virus sends out hundreds of thousands of brute force attack attempts to other servers, from beagleboard's server. I got a notification from the datacenter that the server's outgoing load was through the roof and there were complaints of abuse. I was up from 2 to 4 o'clock this morning working on this. Let me tell you, it absolutely blows. I can't log into the machine via. shell, because of this touch-hole, so I have to backup over 490 megabytes via ftp (so I can save all the member logins and posts) before I can mass delete the contaminated beagleboard files and domain account... care to guess how long this is going to take to download via. dialup?

It's going to take me a few days. If/when beagleboard comes back it's going to be based on a simple message board - likely phpbb version 3. It won't have all the functionality that it does now, but it also won't have the exploitable spots either. Sometimes you just can't win.

It was me guys.....it was becoming progressively harder and harder to log on to the site and i was just blowing off steam....i should've worded it differently and not complained, i had no idea of the time it took to keep that site running, and Chris' comeback had me hanging my head for days afterwards, come to find out it was a hacker that caused him to shut it down....not me. I loved the Beagleboard too, it was my home away from home. I have tried apologizing profusely for a brash comment but have recieved no replies from him, i guess he is too busy or can't find it in his heart to forgive. Hopefully you all can....i feel pretty sorry about the whole thing. It was a very immature thing for me to say.

As I understand it, Chris is in the process of cleaning up the board. He has to back up all of the files before he can go in and waste the virus the hackers left. He has said it will be back but not like it was. It is not going to be as functional as it was before this latest virus.

Don't beat yourself up over it, it wasn't your fault, it was hit by a virus. He was just using you to "vent" on also.
He's a smart boy, he'll get it fixed... ;)
Looked like the bulletin board side still works, that was the orginal board site...
