Tri Tronics Classic 70 G2's...Important....Please Read

I had a really bad experience with these collars very recently.
A while back I could not hit one of my beagles less than 1/2 mile away in open country. Didnt get her back for a couple days, she was found less than a half mile away from where I was attempting to hit her on level 6 and got nothing....all on a full charge.
This time it was much worse. Full charge on the transmitter and receiver, had my best beagle get hit by a car, again less than 1/4 mile from where I was. I had bumped her an hour earlier on level 1 and she squealed and came right in. Went to hit her an hour later as soon as a race was over, and nothing. I couldnt even hit her on 6 at the same distance as earlier.
So long story short, I lost my best dog who was hit by a car and I couldnt hit the dog on level 6.
Today I called Tri Tronics. I have always had nothing but good luck from the Beagler unit I had before "upgrading" to the G2 Classic 70.
The lady on the phone acted like she had never heard of a problem from the Classic 70 G2's before (which I have heard many people complain about their range and dependability AFTER I purchased mine).
She makes 2 statements that totally shocks me (no pun intended):
1.) She asks me how tight I had the collar on the dog. I told her that I keep it very snug, not tight enough to choke the dog. She tells me that it should be tight to the point that you cannot force your finger under it. Their website says that it should fit "snug".
2.) She said that you will have better results if the collar is mounted on the side of the dogs neck instead of under the chin. Makes no sense to me because their head will protect the collar from getting pulled away from the neck when going through brush, etc.
This is in no way a Tri Tronics bash fest, but after losing an extremely nice young female it is tough to swallow when I couldnt hit her on the highest intensity at 1/4 mile.
But I am curious to find out if anyone else on the board has had or is having issues with the Classic 70 G2's.
Please let me know. It will be interesting to see how Tri Tronics makes this right with me once they receive my transmitter and what is left of my collar. My advise is if you are having problems, lets hear it. And you should call Tri Tronics before it is too late.
