My beagle came into her first heat when she was 9 months old. She is now one year old (to the day) and came into heat again! Is this unusual? Will this heat last a short/longer time?

I have 1 that comes in every 4 months or when a big hunt is scheduled, which ever comes first.

Dad had a bitch that came in every 3 months, seemed like she was in heat all the time.

Very strange. I have never heard of something like this. could possibly be she had a split heat and ovulated twice but, it sounds highly unlikely. Not calling anyone crazy just very unlikely.

My math might be off,but if he weaned them at 6 wks, that would make roughly 3 1/2 mths from breeding to whelp 1st litter, now if he took them at 8 weeks that is 4 mths from 1st breeding on 1st litter. She would have had to have been in heat at 3 1/2 to 3 3/4 mths,so she was milking and bleeding at the same time, gives a new meaning to the word RABBIT DOG,a litter every 3 weeks or in this case every 4 mths(3 litters a yr)

I'll tell you what, Ol' Lynn is one sharp feller. Honestly, I would have never been able to figure that out but I never claimed to be the sharpest tool in the shed.LOL
