Depends on the female. I have seen several that had to have a C-section on the first litter but never had to have another one. I have also seen females that had to have one everytime.

My vet said if a dog has to have one there's a good chance she will need another one. I told him to spay mine, don't want to go thru that again. You are likely breeding reproductive problems into your dogs.

I have a female that had a c-section almost two years ago. I bred her this year with no problems.

I have had several bitches have a C-section and go on to whelp naturally. I think some of us show people tend to get antsy and worry too much and interfere. I have found that beagles generally take their time and can have a long pre-labor. As long as nothing is blocking the Birth canal I just wait. I do usually give my bitches 2 chances and then thats it. I've gone from many C-sections in the beginning to almost none now. Thats the way it should be. Selecting for good whelping is essential.
