Preacher man i would have to say my best hound is probably Branko's Chaos but my favorite is Jessie. Chaos is a hard hittin male with alot of foot and quick check ablity. And the pure fact his sire is Branko's Lumberjack but Jessie is my favorite. We have bonded and been through alot this year together and almost finished her as a champion before she was a year old she still only needs 5pts and she will be finished. I like her for the fact i have had her since she was a pup and i have spent so much time with her tring to finsh her and she i just a pleasure to hunt weather i am gun hunting or i am trialing i know she will be there. But my hounds aren't world beaters just good enough to bring the rabbit around for a shot during rabbit season. And i seen that Chief dog of yours and i would be proud to have him as well he is a nice hound preacher man!!!

i consider my best dog to be bandit,he is by far my favorite,he jumps more rabbits than any dog i have ever owned or ran with,he may not get every check but he will always get the hard ones, when the pack looses it,he snapps right to the point of loss and works a tight check area and works it right, inside out,he may not be the most powerfull and flashy dog in my kennel, but he is by far the smartest and most reliable.

sure, blue boy will win more trials than bandit, but bandit will never make me look stupid, and is the same dog every time he goes out,he is consistent and just an all around good rabbit hound, and dont even get me started on his ability as a gundog,he is a rabbithunters dream, and he throws the same into his pups,as a matter of fact, mark my word,as long as things go right and god sees fit to let me trial for a while longer,my oldest pup out of bandit will be the one to put him in the fore front,i have two out of him that not a cash amount will buy,a few have tried, but no way,if somethin happens and i cant trial them,i will put them in good hands and make sure they get the time they need.

other than bandit,i would have to say blue boy,but if you ask me wich was the best trial dog i ever owned,no doubt,i would have to say ma primetime slim stretch, some say i was stupid for sellin him to brad, but i was thinkin for the dog,not me,he was not the style i was going with,so i put him in the best hands i could think of,and when i went to brads house to run one night,i knew i did the right thing, brad let him out of the pen, stretch was so excited, jumpin around, and ran right to the truck,he knew where he was goin, but it wont be too long and i will have another stretch,i am plannin on raisin a few pups out of him in the future, they may be grade dogs, but if they are anything like stretch,it wont matter.

Sandy Valley Top Gun! He is 7 yrs old now and a veteran in every way. I have a feeling he will be our measuring stick for all the hounds in our kennel for a long time. His two best attributes are his intelligence and heart. He is the most laid back hound in the kennel-but watch out when it's time to run rabbits! We don't trial, but he's been tested time and again under the gun-a true hunting hound.

Mine is BlackDirt Mikey.. 9 yr old grade dog bred by Brian Joiner

Mikey isn't great at anything ,but he isn't bad at anything. A nice level headed dog, in all, respects. Nice to have around the kennel, a good balance of hunt, brains, conformation. He is still getting done , though a step slower at 9. With a pack of dogs like Mikey, ya don't need an anchor dog.

I have a male named Thunderstrucks Demon Deacon. I got him off of Mike Klaiber about 3 yrs ago. He is a full brother to Klaibers Tank. Both Tank and Deacon are out of Linemasters Big Shot Gunner and Ohio River Linemasters Ann. Both Gunner and Ann are grand pups to Dingus. He is the same dog every time he runs. Has NEVER back tracked or cold trailed. If he barks then you are in good shape and don't run a collar on him 90% of the time. He is just a clean solid dog that handles like a dream. One time last fall a bubby of mine and I was running and we turned loose and saw the dogs heading for about 6 Deer standing there. We grabbed our remotes and was just waiting. The Deer ran off and the dogs were standing exactly over the spot where the Deer was. Not a dog pulled a bark and they all headed back for us without a word being said. My dog Deacon (I call him Homer) didn't even have a collar on him. I have only had him in 5 hunts and have a 3rd place out of 53 dogs and another 3rd place out of 51 dogs. The day he runs his last rabbit I will bring him in the house where he will stay.

My #1 dog is Branko's Snowflake Belle. She does it all - has gears, extreme hunt, jumps more rabbits than most hounds, handles well, is intelligent, loyal, loving, built to run all day, awesome voice, runs her own rabbit with great line control and has no quit in her.

my best dog and why..well that is a tough one.

The best gundog I have ever owned or seen was Ol Rocky. He would produce rabbits anywhere anytime if they was there he would find them case closed. I know people go on and on about how thier dog is the best jumpdog but I will say this with confidence. There hasn't been another dog that has taken in a breath of air that would out jump ol Rocky. I have seen and ran with at least a thousand hounds and have given them all an honest evaluation. I just wish I could turn back time and start the ol boy all over. And yes for Northway fans he is Northway bred.

My best Trial or competition dog would be a toss up right now between Ol Fred and Stretch. Both get it done and are a joy to own. Fred is a win from Grand and Stretch's record speaks for itself. Either dog can get it done in any condition. I have been very pleased to have had several good hounds and I am thankful. Enjoy the good ones..they never stay around long enough it seems.

You just might need to run with a thousand and one :)

My Rocky dog will hold his breath until he out-jumps him :)

However, the dead dogs are always the best ones because if we love them we tend to only remember the great things that they did. Such as my Billy dog who would out-jump and out-check every dog that has ever taken in a breath of air. Not only that he will be at the hole, tree or whatever else the rabbit has hid in from him bawling like a coonhound keeping the rabbit at bay while I would make my way to the spot.

As far as you Northway guys are concerned he was NOT Northway bred :) He was a southern grade dog!

I liked Mikey real well also. Like a can of Budweiser, same thing every time you pop the top!!!! I have not seen many dogs that were that consistent, regardless of conditions or any other variables.

Like Brad says, not outstanding in any specific area, but very good in all areas.

If you are gun hunting, that is some oversized grade dog!!

Still, I liked Mo an awful lot also. That dog could make the rest of the pack look pretty sorry.
