I know some of u use something that starts with a I ( I think..lol) ..I know there is heart gaurd but for 4 and at some point 5 dogs 2 of them being BIG dogs. Heartguard gets pricey.

So I was just wondering what u all use and where do u get it.

Thanks Robyn

I am giving Equimax one click per month per dog now and since mosquito's came out and will continue til they're gone for the winter.

Have you figured how much in CC's is in one click?

I give strongit to my pups and Drontal Plus for my older hounds every 2 or 3 months or when I think they have come into contack before that I will give it to them sooner. For hartwormer I give the hearguard from the vet, you need a prescription though....

I have a syringe that I stick into the end of the equimax and pull out the appropriate dosage.

I give Interceptor monthly, April to November (mosquito season here). I never have to give anything else for either heart or gut worms unless I find tapes, which isn't going to happen with them never getting out of the back yard. (ugh). I have found tapes in the past, though, and I gave one pill of Droncit for that. Interceptor is reasonable if you only keep a half dozen dogs or so. It's just a personal preference - I'd rather given Milbemycin than Ivermectin to the dogs. It gets more worms and it's safe enough to use during pregnancy...plus, you can start little pups on it and be rid of those worms, too.

Robyn,
The Ivermectin1% for cattle is what i use for heartworms monthly,1/10cc for every10lbs of dog, 30lb. dog= 3/10cc. 50cc a bottle for $32 at farm & tractor stores, ALOT cheaper than heartguard tabs, one bottle will do 4, 25lb dogs for 4 years

I use the same stuff as E.C.I. Rookie for my grown dogs and the Strongid wormer on my pups.
My vet has been unable to find any parasites in my hounds so far so it must be working ;)
