I have a bad and getting worst yote problem and lost 4 dogs to them a couple years back.Ever since I have ran bells and lighted collars to try to avoid any more problems. So far it really seems to be working, and shoopman is right if I hear or see any I open fire in that general direction.

Right now is a great time to hunt them. The young are out and learning to hunt and they are pretty easy to call in. I still set up with my tape player with a rabbit squeal at about 40 yards. Two things to remember, keep the wind in your face and be ready to shoot when the tape starts. The only way to stop the yote problem is to take the time to hunt them and thin them down. I carry a 22-250 with me when going to the country and shoot everyone I see. They will get hard to hunt once the corn gets up to a certain height. I shot 7 in 2006 and if everyone did that, it would make a difference.

I usually tote a gun.
If I hear coyotes, I call the dogs and head that way.
I always worry about the dog in the rear, or if one breaks off on a split by itself. If they get too spread out, I call them in to regroup.
