What qualifies a hound for this distinction? Is it when they have enough points without the needed wins or when they have the wins and not the points?

I was just wondering because I see a lot of dogs listed as Nr FC's.

I think it's kind of silly and seems like it's done for promotion.
It's kind of like being"almost pregnant" or "it was almost a homerun" or close but no cigar". You either are or you aren't.
There are lots of hounds out there that have a ton of points but just can't get their firsts to finish. Also hounds that have gotten a first but have never been able again to duplicate that performance again.

Its done and mentioned for a variety of reasons I believe. It will let someone know that the dog has won some trials which is no small feat and it may ad some credibility and up the value of offspring..I personally own a gyp who I mention as a Nr FC because she has won 3 AKC Lic Trials and has 90 points towards her Title. Her smallest class she won was 24..
