I dont know anything about either dog, but if one is slow, and the other fast, you will probably get some fast, some slow. You would have to keep the whole litter to see which one has the most traits your looking for.

Where is this blueback male you mentioned? I have never heard of him. I would like to know more about him, if he's close.

Let me know how it works.I am planning on breeding a direct son of Blueback to a real solid gundog bitch that does everything right but does not drive the rabbit very hard.I figure if half turn out like the dam I'll still have above average dogs but if they turn out like their sire they have the potential to be great....but what do I know? :???:

Man, thats a long way from here, I would still like to hear how he runs a line, just out of curiosity.

At 9 yrs old he can still run most dogs in the ground. I was told by Freddy, Missles owner,he beat 300 dogs at the Little World. I will check with him on the year. he has great line control, runs very smooth with tremendous speed. He can still run all day.
The only fault I can see is he has gotten wise, he will skirt a brush pile and be gone with the rabbit befor the other dogs can make it through. but thats only if were running him with some hard dogs. I guess he still wants to be the man! He can solo one like none other ive seen, he has caught many a cottontail, he has a machine gun chop, that he uses right.
I have the chance to buy Missle and will make up my mind this wknd. Either way i will be raising pups from him.

I have seen this happen to so many dogs, when they start losing foot, the smart ones do what ever it takes to keep themselves in the race. It's not as noticable in many medium speed hounds, but a dog thats used to dominating, just cant take running the back of the pack. He sure sounds like a nice dog. I do know that this line of dogs has very good prepotency. The only draw back that I have seen, is some of the males dont hunt hard, if you cull those, you stand a chance of getting a very good dog. Blueback didnt hunt hard himself, that is well known by people in this area, but the rest of the attributes you may gain should make up for this.

IT WORKED OUT BETTER THAN I EVER DREAMED. I KEPT ONLY ONE AND SHE TURNED OUT TO BE A DANDY. SHE HAS BEEN IN 4 TRIALS, FIRST TRIAL SHE DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO THINK OF ALL THE PEOPLE AND WOULD DO ANYTHING BUT STAY AT MY FEET. SECOND TRIAL SHE DID HER THING AND PLACED 1ST, THIRD TRIAL SHE DID GREAT AND PLACED 2ND, FORTH TRIAL SHE WAS DOMINATING AND GOT MEASURED OUT. SHE MEASURED 12. 5 EVERY OTHER TIME THIS TIME 13 AND 3/4???????? I HAD HER MEASURED BY ANOTHER JUDGE 5 MIN LATER AND 12.5 BUT NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. ALL THIS BEFORE SHE TURNED 1.5. I KILLED 60 RABBITS IN FRONT OF HER SOLO THIS SEASON.
I LIKE HER SO MUCH I BOUGHT HER DAM BACK AND MADE THIS CROSS AGAIN. SHE IS DUE JUNE 11. here is a pick of her (jessy)
