took him to my neighbors vet yesterday evening, they did the autopsey and called me this morning, the vet said he opened dozers lungs and they where full of blood and brown fluid,he asked me if he could have injested rat poison and that it takes 7 to 10 days to kill a dog and that with the damage he found he had to have ate a large amount,i thought back and 7 days ago dozer was at the world hunt.i will pick up the report and dozers ashes tommorrow and post the actual report for all to see.

kevin and forest sold a tri color femalethat looked like dozer to a man in illinois, she was at the vet diing last night, same symptoms as dozer.we are staying in contact with him and are trying to get him to have an autopsey on her if or when she passes.

tom floyd called, today, woody, dozers half brother is sick, was at the hunt in the same barn and area as dozer and the female.

talked to forest a half hour ago, scooter is sick now too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all these dogs where housed in the same area at the world hunt,if you had dogs in that barn, check their gums, they will turn white with dark red spots an them.rub the gums where they meet the teath,if the bleed get the dog to the vet.

i appriciate the kind words from all of you and your support in this hard time, sorry i have not responded,my computer is still down and i have to use other peeoples to get online.

dozer will be sadley missed,i was hoping he died of natural causes but he did not,i hope for the sake of our sport that we love so much that this is all a feak accident but i have a hard time accepting that these dogs that are all tri colored and ressemble each other are dead and sick.

how can anyone feal safe to go to a trial anymore?

This is not looking good! How could beaglers do something like this to a fellow beagler or beaglers! Then you have to wonder who or what they where out to gain by doing this? How many more dogs where tied up around you Danny? Have you been able to contact everyone?

You can you really trust today?

Sorry for your loss.........Wow something definatly happened in that barn.

I'd go back to the barn where they where held and investgate to see if there was rat poison around.

Either someone poisened them on purpose or someone forgot to take the rat poison out.......

they where all in the same area, dozer and the female where within five feet of each other and scooter and woody where about ten feet away from them, scooter and woody are not acting right, woody is actualy throwing up sick, the female was almost dead last night, hvent heard since, she looked just like dozer and was right beside him.

the thing is the vet said that a little poison would just make them sick, the vet said that dozer had tho have eaten a lot.

after the things i witnessed out there i would not rule out anything, and if i find out someone did this and who, heaven help them.

i hope it was accidental but i dought someone would accidently leave that much poison out

Danny, this sounds more and more like you were the victem of foul play. This ain't right!!! I have seen and heard of this kind of thing my whole life and it never gets easier to stomach. You need to contact the ARHA and let them know what has happened. I would also contact the Indiana State Police and file a report. This will open channels. You never know, maybe someone saw something and called it in.

It sounds to me like Dozer was the target. Whoever did this must not of had time to sex the dogs because the female got is also. You never know, he or she or shall I say IT, may have been hurried by something or someone. Good luck, I hope you find out what happened and get some justice.

Something needs to happen.........

Either get some hard evidence and have the police handle it

or

Do it the old fashion way.........

I'd also sit and think for a good while about any enemies you might have........(No offense) not saying you have any just you never know. That most likely will be the first question a cop will ask you.....

that sucks. it would take one low life SOB to poison dogs. but those symptoms makes me wonder. i lost my Jihad dog several months ago with about the same symptoms. had so much fluid build up his lungs collapsed. i didnt have an autopsy wish i had know.

boys i agree this sounds bad. but do you think it is possible that maybe they had poison out and a rat got into it and the dog ate the rat, or was there too much poison in his system for this to be a possibility? wich ever way it was this is a raw deal. danny sorry for your loss.

My hounds have chewed on rats that have been poisoned and had no illl effects. Seems like too much poison between too many similar dogs for an oversight or an accident. Danny, I'm sorry to hear about this, as much for the loss of a fine hound as for the possibilities that this may open up. There are different kinds of winners and losers and this sounds really bad for competition hunting all around. It says to outsiders that we are a very juvenile bunch as a whole, as to the outside world a bad apple or two overshadows the hundreds of men and women of character that are involved in field trialing. I sincerely hope that someone who reads this board saw something enough to get someone convicted in a court of law to send a message to those who don't deserve to be called beaglers.
