I have been feeding the same feed (27/18 River Run) for the last three or four years. I used to feed the green bag diamond. The River Run seems just as good to me and is a whole lot cheaper. My dogs do wonderfully on it.

I've been feeding River Run for about 6 years now. Have excellent luck with it. Don't have to feed much, my big 15's get 2 cups a day. The little 13's do very well on only a cup. Low output, very easy to regulate weight.
Dog looks a little lean, add a quarter cup, same with a little heavy, back off a quarter cup. Usually see a difference in a week. Tried Diamond for a while, didn't have good luck with it, went back to River Run and will never switch again.

thanks for your reply kazoo im just trying to find something to stick with seems like ever time i get my dogs started on something they like and do good on something comes up and i can't get it anymore. now the 26/18 pride hands down is the best feed ive feed over the past 10yrs or so exspecially for the price but i was told that i would see the same results from the river run i don't know i do know the pride had more of a meat base than the river run.

well so far the dogs are keeping weight on good feeding my jack russells one 8oz cup a day and my beagles 1 1/2 to 2 but there seems to be a little more crap than the pride but i bought about 2months worth so ill feed it out and make up my mind from there. $19 a bag for the river run and i was paying $16 for the pride sure wish my dealer was reliable on the pride but oh well.

I fed River Run several years ago and the sodium was high, my hounds couldn't pass up a waterhole without drinking it dry, but that was 6-7 years ago. I haven't tried it in a while, but if it works and you cna afford it, good for you and your hounds. That really was the only problem I had with it.

boomer, I feed Pride Pro formula 21-17 and it's around $15 a bag and I feed it in tiny amounts and have fat on my hounds (not getting to run right now) but very little mess. If you have a dealer close by, may be worth a try. They also have a Pro formula (chicken and rice) in a higher protein and fat, but I don't remember the numbers.

Just finishing up the last of the Pro Series 26-20 Pride, good food but not necesssary in this weather, mixing it with some 26-18 Pride(blue bag) I got a good buy on and they are drinking more water with it. I don't feed the blue bag in summer as it keeps them hyper, like it's got caffeine in it(makes them to hot)... The 21-17 is a good blend all-round feed...jmho

We've been feeding The Pride for about 3 years now and have tried about all of it and we've found just as SR Patch stated that the 21/17 chicken and rice formula is as good all year round feed as there is. Now we feed only that blend and if you don't run them pretty regular they will put on weight with being fed 1 1/2 cups per day. Of course that will vary some among dogs but we've found it to hold pretty true over all.
