DOGS WERE POISONED.??

Well unfortunately, we lost two of our best hounds this weekend. They were kenneled at my cousins, who lives in a rural setting on the edge of town. Apparently they managed to escape their runs and were out all day Friday, at which time he corraled them back in. When we went to get them Saturday morning, it looked as though they had dropped dead in their tracks....he has one neighbor that we're sure poisoned them. A couple years ago, a different neighbor had a german shepard go the same way. ...what kind of poison would just kill a hound that way, no vomiting, no diarreah, they didn't even die in their box......anyone ever seen this..??

hmmmm

You may want to find some old time cock fighters
and ask them . I've heard talk of a poisen so powerful
it would kill the 1st victim and then kill whatever ate
the first and so on several times XXX.

There are several pesticides that could do that - Temik being the trade name of one of them. I do not condone "feed baiting" with ANY poison as it is too dangerous to non-targets! However, those who do say that a coyote that eats a minute amount of Temik will be found within a few feet of the bait location. DANGEROUS STUFF!

Sorry to hear of your loss. I've heard of dogs being poisoned by antifreeze/coolant before, but it's a long slow painfull death, doesn't sound like what yours went through. Again - sorry to hear this.

Man sorry to hear that. My female that is bred ate poison last year. One of those green rat bait bars. She stayed at the vet 2 days. He said she would not make it. I came home and dug the hole. She is way fine now.I have know idea what kind of poison would do that. In mo. it is illegal to kill a dog on your property unless they are chasing your live stock..they take it serious to. did you call the law. or kick his A##.

My mom used to work for a vets office and they would pour salt down the dogs throut to induce vomiting. Its something that may be helpful in the future in a bind.

It sounds like something that would have just made there heart stop instead of destroying there organs? as far as salt I wonder if ipecac syryp would work?

Hydrogen Peroxide will induce vomiting. That's what my vet recommends.

Hydrogen Peroxcide is the deal. Had a male eat 3 lbs. of chocolate candy, turtles, etc, at Christmas time a couple years ago. My step-daughter is a vet-tech and she ran for the peroxide, one tablespoon and within 60 seconds he was yacking, about 4 big piles and he was looking to see if there was more candy. For a Lab sized dog it might take 2-4 tablespoons. But it really works. Step-son's lab ate a whole stick of rat poison 2 weeks ago, he tried two tablespoons, when he got no result just poured some down his throat. Bingo, everything came up. Dog had no after effect but he got to him within minutes after he ate poison.
Real sorry for your loss. Would be real hard not to take some serious action if you know who the guilty party is!!!!!!!!!!!

there are several ag pesticides that is extremely toxic.counter(corn), temik(sb,ct,peanuts) and lannate sb usually.in minute concentrations will kill.a farmer suffering livestock losses to predators may have put it out, or deer hunter trying kill yotes. yes some of the chems can kill several times down the food chain. it is thoughtless/careless someone did not communicate with neighbors his problems and actions. counter will kill within yards of the intake, temik will crawl off some distance, lannate less than a hundred yds.not a good thing for nontarget victims.
