was looking for a little input from everyone. what line or stud dog throws strong nose power into its offspring without being to mouthy. this question is geared toward midwest or lp style hounds only. maybe the most impressive snowhound you've seen run in the worst of conditions?

As good of a snowhound i have seen in the south. My vote would go to Chad Blairs - RunNGun- Double Bogey. Straight off Ali-Baba. Probaly one of the cleanist hounds i have ever seen run a rabbit. Especially in snow .
Another extreme clean snow hound would have to be RunNGun-Buzz Saw,
He waxed me in 2 or 3 inches for about 3 hours one time .Lynn Forgot to tell him it was snowing . One more mention for me is Jeff Browns Rocky dog. Buzz Type Hound. Head down walks thru checks when senting is questionable. Ol school colby hill breeding. I have spoken to lynn about this before. Most boys set at home when its -10 degrees we run . Dogs never really get to show there cold cards as they are not prepped to run in harsh conditions. Its hard to tell what ya got when your afraid to get cold . All the mentioned hounds can pound in snow or ice as
i have personally witnessed it. Jmho.

If you want fast with good noses, try the Awful Bawlin dogs from Canada. Lynn Perkins in southern KY has one at stud that is fast but with great control. FTCH Awful Bawlin Let Er Rip. I have 6 out of Rip that have 4 different dams. And they are all keepers. On bad scenting days they have enough brains to gear it down and enough nose to keep it under control and run the track.

Last week I was gun hunting when my buddies pack could not circle a rabbit. He put his dogs up and I dropped mine on the ground. They jumped every rabbit and ran and circled each to the gun, 9 out of 10. I should have gotten number 10 but he went to a big brush pile after I fired on him 3 times.

Yesterday was a repeat of last week but fewer rabbits. Same poor scenting conditions. Out of frustration my buddy put his dogs in the truck. I turned out the crew and they jumped and ran 3 we got 2.

In order to develop a dogs nose you must run him in poor scenting conditions. But they must also have a good nose to develop. Bill Bredemier once told me, "A dog is 70% nose and 30% brains, if he don't have a nose he can't run a rabbit."

Look at any line bred Birch Lake Texas T dogs. I had a bitch that was the best wind splitter I have ever seen that ran with her head up most of the time that was up close Birch Lake breeding. She had a nice set of brakes to go with her wheels.

Bjk, Ol rip is now just getting some pups in this country but thats pretty awesome to hear ya say that about em. Ol bill was a real fella and dead right on his predictions.

You and that 28 guage must be struggling. I may be ready for a cross of that Awful Bawlin stuff. Keep me in mind. I am thinking about Pine Mountain Freebird. Any ideas on how that may go with the AB stuff. Birdie brings speed, grit, and search as well as a loud squall used correctly. Weakness may be tough day nose. Her nose is adequate but she struggles to hold a line on the toughest days. We would be touching on Sock it to Me a few generations back.

mr. blair, i would love to. of my faster hounds i would love to put some more nose power in them. its the only thing i feel they lack as compared to some of my more conservative hounds. if i can get both i feel this is the next step in my breeding program. there is more to it than this, but it is something i want to develop in my kennel. thanks, pat
