Deltadog,
I have been very pleased with black gold dog food for the last two years, solid stools usually one a day, my dogs are hunted very hard all year round and they look very good, nice healthy coat shine, ready to go every day hunting. It's the best I have used for my dogs and I've tried several brands. I can feed a smaller amount with this food too. dboman

DO YOU THINK AUTO FEEDERS HURT..

I don't use auto feeders because I need the dogs to eat in accordance with my running scedule. It's bad to run a dog right after it eats.
Pro-plan performance is the best for a very active dog. If you are interested in Purina and care for 5 or more dogs OR have one litter per year the PRO CLUB has many advantages. Send me a PM with your address and I will send you the info to sign up.

I feed black gold black bag (performance blend).
It is good feed at a reasonable price ($17 for 50#).

I have fed purina hi-pro. The dogs stools were soft and they lost some weight. I fed some of the wal-mart brands (old roy) and they didn't do well on it.

I fed a couple bags of Pride and they seemed to do well on it.

I have 3 beagles in the pen. They are on a continuous feeder and usually get a handful of meat scraps every night.
I have a 4 yr old gip that gained weight this summer because I was leaving her up to work with young dogs. She is cut down fairly slim now.
The other two are thin and muscular. I have been worming monthly also.

Some dogs you cannot put on a continuous feeder. If you start them as pups and young dogs, they will adapt. Some older dogs will hurt themselves because they won't quit eating.

I use auto-feeders on puppy only, I'm the same way with adult dogs, I want them fed a couple of hours before a big run if possible, mine seem to do better with this practice. Plus, most hounds will be big pigs when kenneled together (two per kennel at my house) and there is food around all the time and they stand a higher chance of getting fat. dboman

Exceed 26/16 Lamb and Rice, Pink Bag from Sam's Club. 1 vegetable can per dog per day, 1 firm pile per dog per day. I used to feed Purina and Black Gold with 3X the waste, and the stinch was what my wife hated the most. She's my turd herder, so I keep her and the hounds happy. Also if you don't run your hounds consistantly they will get fat. I'm no dealer of anything and will not push anything, but I've been using it for almost 5 years and would not change for any price.

I won 125lb's of Purina this past weekend at a trial and gave it away, if that tells you anything.

As far as High Digestibility (low stool), and being reasonably priced I'll have to say Ultra Advantage's Supreme (Chicken Based) line of dog food.

I'm a dealer for them, but wherever you get it tell them Jim Heasley recommended it to you.

I feed and sell Black Gold. I only sell so I can feed it, so that should tell you something.
