I know the quail populations over the last few years have really soared in OK will this ice have an adverse effect on game in general. A lot of birds and rabbits dont make it if they cant get to the food.

I like seeing those black hounds with the snow on the ground. That weather has to be unusual for down there. What I remember of OK is rattlesnakes and HOT!!! LOL

Duke, The quail are scarce in this part of OK, have been for several years now. I have seen a few more this year though.

Matt, This is the worst winter we have had in 5 or 6 years, but it does not stay on the ground long. It is already starting to melt, but they are saying we are going to get 4 to 6 inches of snow this weekend.

Joe P., you have some uniquely marked beagles. I can’t recall seeing anything similar to them in past years. What bloodlines did the black heads and the heavy ticking come out of?

Keystone, this color comes from a grade male I had about 17 or 18 years ago that was this color. I know nothing about his background or where he came from other than the dog trader I got him from. He was a pretty fair dog and I wanted more dogs this color. I raised 2 litters out of him 1 that did not turn out to suit me and 1 litter that the whole litter of 5 made very good dogs, so I used 2 of the females from this litter to carry on this color and ability. The actual base of my bloodline is a female named Joe's blue Polly, she was a tri-colored bluetick and the single best dog I have ever owned. Over the years I have mixed in Emmon's Blue Streaker,Gunsmoke,Gay and a few other grade dogs for outcrosses to add things I thought needed put in the line to suit me.But every dog I own goes back to these 2 hounds, most are linebred.

Joe,
Looks like you didn’t let the weather keep you from enjoying a rabbit hunt and it looks like you done well. I am going to have to get over your way sometime and see a few other of your hounds run. It seems like all I ever get to see run is Jethro and he does a fine job. I wouldn’t mind to run a few of them swampers with you. Talk to you later.

Nice looking hounds for sure. I'd like to see a pic of them on the bench to get a better look.
