ive got an 8 week old pup and was wondering if he would be alright if i put him in his own side of the pen. ive got him in with an older male right now. i was thinking with him being so small he may get a little cold. he would stay in a 30 gallon barrel inside of a 50 gallon barrel with fiberglass insulation between them. do you think he would be alright by himself? keith

How cold does it get? that should determine if the pup gets cold or not and is there bedding in the barrel? A small pup would get cold I imagine.

It gets really cold up here so I put 6" of wood chips and my 3 hounds in the same box to make sure they stay warm eventhough the box has insulation around it.

Don't you have a older bitch you can put him with? I would think that he needs body heat from another dog and the companionship as well. Young puppies have a harder time regulating body temperature. I think a bitch might be safer for him but, if the male is putting up with him that might work.

ive only got 1 other dog and its a male. hes really laid back though thats why i didnt hesitate to put him in there. ive owned him since he was a young pup and ive yet to hear him growl at a person or another dog and hes going on 4. he even backs off of fights in the box if there is an agressive male in with him. i will just leave the pup in with him for now...keith

That sounds like a good idea Keith, at least until the pup gets bigger, then you wouldn't have to worry.

I'd either leave the pup with Speedy or bring him in the house (yes, yes) and crate train him. :baby:
Heck, bring 'em both in the house!! You only have TWO. I have SIX in the house at the moment, asleep quietly as snug as bugs in rugs in their warm, fuzzy crates in the 65 degree dogroom.
