Help,
I have my female and her 10 month old pup in a kennel together and one of them is peeing in the dog house. Dont know which one yet but I am wondering if anyone else has had this before and how can I get them to stop? Also why do you think one of them is doing this?

Whats in there for bedding? I have had them do it if I use shavings.

i have a female that has always done that i always thought it was about her scent

I use straw and my female has always done this. I could not crate train them whe they were pups either

I think that LOTS of shavings in the houses outside help them smell cleaner. I have a bitch that pees in her crate, on her bed to mark it. She doesn't really smell like pee though and we have a clean house...so far, knock on wood, it just has not been a big issue and I have six dogs in the house (crated or relegated to kitchen/dogroom).

I know with my bitch that marks that if I just let her mark her bed and then don't change it, she won't keep on marking it....Everyone is crate trained here...they get PLENTY of dogyard running time but they DO NOT have run of the house....except Miss Honey on, like, holidays

They are kenneled in an above ground kennel and I use straw in the winter but this year have added some cedar chips to give them a cleaner smell.

It has been my experience that Cedar Chips encourage them to urinate in it. You might just try straw, we have one that will pee on any bedding she gets so she gets no bedding and she don't pee in the box then. But when it is cold got to have something for her to keep warm so do change out her bedding often.

I agree, Many of mine will pee in shavings but, not in straw or other bedding.

Windkist you said you use some sort of stuff to reduce the odors could you post what that is again.

As for the one that pees on all her bedding I think it is a dominance thing she is the Alfa out of all the dogs and I kinda think it is her way of marking her territory, but it is nasty to say the least and very agrivating.

I have found if you limit the head room in the box you can stop alot of dogs from doing there buisness inside the box. I use a few blocks of wood and a piece of plywood to make a false ceiling.

got the same problem with one of my females. She like's to pee on the straw in the dog house part of the above ground kennel. Why I don't know her kennel mates don't pee in there, she is the only one that does it. So I have to change the straw out often cause it smells very bad.
